^ well if they hadn't a done, what you told them not to do, they'd still be alive right now. hahaha 😉

Lol, such an exceptional movie. "If you shoot me in a dream, you'd better wake up and apologize"

Right now, I'm jammin' to some Blessed Black Wings - High on Fire, who'll be visiting our cuidad. In two weeks!

This is the most pure rock performance I have ever seen in person. (sound sucks on youtube, but…)

This is also… quite compelling. As rock music.

I don't believe in "all-time" favorites! Too mutable! Especially with history in mind. These are contemporary though…

Bad Card - Bob Marley, in fact all his albums released on the Island label
I am that I am - Peter Tosh, all his albums until Wanted Dread and Alive
Youths of Eglington - Black Uhuru, all their albums released on the Island label
African Race - Abyssinians - everything
Warrior Charge - Aswad - everything between Showcase and Distant thunder
Just another dance - Bunny Wailer - everything until Marketplace
Hush Darling - Gregory Isaacs (my favorite artist of them all, I had the privilege of working with him and I feel blessed)
          Night Nurse - Gregory Isaacs
          Secretary - Gregory Isaacs
Mi Come Again - Gregory Isaacs
          Material Man - Gregory Isaacs
          more Gregory Isaacs
and some more (everything until 1984)
anything produced by Sly & Robbie between 1976 and 1985, then Tease Me by Chaka Demus & Pliers, X Uhuru (the album they did for Michael Rose)
Games with Love - Bitty McLean (which I produced with Sly & Robbie and Bitty last year)
          Any Burning Spear until 1984
          All of Slim Smith
          The first 3 Ijahman albums
Pablo Moses - A Song, Pave the way, Confession of A Rastaman, Mission
          Buju Banton - Til Shiloh
Gladiatos - all their albums released on the Frontline label and Back to roots (which I was privileged to reissue on CD 10 years ago)

I could list about 2.000 Reggae tunes that I think are essential, but we need some room for other genres:

          ALL of Fela Kuti
ALL of the Stones until Steel Wheels with my favorite being Emotional Rescue and Some Girls
Bob Dylan = Desire, Infidels (with Sly & Robbie!), Street Legal, his first 3 albums too, Live at Budokan, Slow train coming
All of the Grace Jones albums produced by Sly & Robbie
Dr Dre and the album he produced for Snoop

so much more: African, Salsa, more Reggae, reggae reggae reggae

One last thing: PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD, buy the music to support us small indie producers, us small artists. Buy less but buy good stuff! Thank you

Burning Spear live in Paris in 1988, so majestic (notice the female horn section), a mystical experience

originally purchasing this cd at a tender age of 7 years old for the track "If I Ruled The World" it would take me a few years and some listen throughs to truly appreciate how amazing Nas was and still is. It Was Written, one of my favorite albums of all time.

Mrs. P, its because if number one crush was a song that reminded you of when you two first started dating, #1 Crush by Garbage is also like track 1 on the soundtrack to the movie. i just strung together the info and decided that this was highly likely… i too am a huge fan of that movie. hahhahaha  😘 😘 and i think it was this version that really captured my attention when i was way younger (in a single digit age) because this R+J had guns, and guns are cool to play with at arcades on the video games!  😉 a little boy with a desire for destructive weapons = 90's influence. hehehehe, just kidding!

anyways, off of the soundtrack, my favorite song is probably...

I studied R&J at school, too many years ago.  Agree, the Baz Luhrmann film version was incredible, using the original Shakespearean script, but so brilliantly putting everything into a contempary and cool setting.  I'm gonna dig out the DVD and watch it again.  Am a big fan of Dicaprio, and a HUGE fan of Radiohead, and Talk Show Host is one of their best!
                                  😘
Don't apologise for liking the guns, so did I - did you notice, in the film all the guns had names?  Sorry, could go on for hours…!  Listening to film soundtrack as I post...
                                  😉

p.s. another fave film of mine - WELL before your time, and nearly before mine - is West Side Story, based on R&J, have you seen it?  Knock-out soundtrack, albeit a bit dated in places.
