oh, those might be too small .  Size and comfort is an individual thing, but I was always under the impression that you want a thumbs width of space in the front of the boot.

I apologize if this has been beaten to death, but where in this thread (ie page number) may I be able to find pros and cons of getting a double mid sole + standard height heel?

              Thanks,

i don't think there are any pros or cons.. maybe a double mid sole takes a little longer to break in? but that's about it.

^ I went the DBL sole cause I reckon it gives the boot a much more substantial look, which I like in the SD boot.

Cant comment on break in, but accordingto Giles and Mega it makes little difference.  Moreso the shaft leather chosen will affect breakin time/initial comfort.

But, mine havent arrived yet, so i may be well off-base.

i dont think it will make a difference comfort wise, but it will def. take much longer for the midsole to loosen up and flex easier.

if it gets flexible at all! while double leather without a rubber outsole is rather flexible from the start, the combination with a composition outsole isn't getting any softer from my experience. not a problem for me, but if you want a flexible sole, i suggest you dont choose a double midsole.

I am pursuing the double midsole for aesthetics as well…the boots look so much more substatial. So I guess the walking style in double mid sole would be a little different than a single sole, but wouldn't feel uncomfortable? Would it be like a pair of dress shoes or far less flexible. I would have thought the inflexibility of the sole would contribute to discomfort. I hope it doesn't feel like I am wearing shoes made of wooden sole. Is it possible  to get a single leather midsole + rubber midsole + the undersole.

Whats your brannock size?  I would venture to guess that if you wear a 12 in athletic shoes, you would be a 11.5 on the brannock, and thus an 11.5 in Whites.  However, its always best to trace and send them to Bakers or Whites.

Im a 10 on the Brannock, and wear a 10 in Whites.  They are roomy though, and Im guessing I could go down a half size, but then my toe would just nick the side of the boot where it rounds out and I hate that, especially when your feet swell because of heat or being on them all day.

NO, you don´t need it…some guys do, some don´t! imo it´s just so your toe box keeps its shape instead off wearing out along with the rest of your boot!

here´s how a "standard" celastic toe box looks from the inside:

urb´s boot has a "single" celastic toe box:

and this pair has "no" celastic toe box:
                                            new

                                            worn

the celastic toe box option does give your toes a bit more room though (well, i guess) and if you want your toe box to still have that shape even after some months of wear, you might want to go for a "single" celastic toe box…if you like to have that "flat" look on your toe box, you might want to go without a celastic toe box! looks better imo and not that "bulky"...
