it is about the outer seam,G.
on the 9301 it was made of red color.
and on the 9634 it is all black.

It was stated as 22 oz, but was marked down about 2 years ago (though I think SE still declares the 22 oz). The denim seems to be way stiffer, but not that heavier than the 21 ot IIRR.

To prove, I'm not crazy regarding 22oz superblack (from the 9634Z thread)….

The 9634 is being phased out and replaced by the 9634Z.

The differences are the new ones will come with a Zipper and the fabric, whilst being the same intense black and weighing in at 22oz, is a lot softer - more like the feel of the 634S.

I still have most sizes in the old version (but not 36), and there are none left in Japan.

If you are between 36 and 38 I would go for 38 in the old fabric and 36 in the new, as the new will stretch a tad.

I remember G weighed them and came to the conclusion that they were closer to 21 than 22 oz and thus adjusted it, but I will always refer to the fabric as 22 oz. cause it's so stubborn…

The 9634Z is displayed with a lanyard /key rein in your webstore. Does this come with the pants or is it just for the pictures? And are the 22 oz post-soak (hence the label says 21 oz in the pictures)?

Comes with the Lanyard.  Haraki described these to me as 22oz.  I have always called them 22oz but for some reason he labels them as 21.  Let's put it this way, size for size they weigh more than a pair of 634S

Update.  I actually just re weighed a pair of 634S and a pair of 9634Z and whilst the 9634Z were heavier, not enough to warrant an ounce. so I'm going to update the website…G
