I know a few people in Montreal who tell me they've spoken to Brandon about toning down the craziness of some N&F products. They assured me that the message was finally starting to sink in. Apparently not.

I like that he's willing to take chances and try new things.  I'm not interested in most of what N&F puts out, but I respect the creativity.  I think the danger of toning it down is that the brand loses its distinctiveness and gets lost among all the other jeans makers in the same price range.

I'm not sure I'd say N&F is only selling gimmick jeans.  They have several popular models that are normal denim.  The really off-beat stuff is limited production, special edition runs.  I'd compare N&F more to Samurai or Studio D'Artisan in their approach, if not overall quality or reputation.  There's nothing wrong with thinking outside the box and taking some risks.

and its not all new ideas
chip and pepper did glow in the dark jeans years ago and the same with the different color cores
i agree with chris thou, theyre not all gimmick

Happen to be wearing my gimmick N&F Red core today. Really washed them for the first time last week. The red
Core was just quirky enough, but really quite subtle. Worn them since July about4-5 days/wk. Plan on wearing them into the ground while anxiously waiting for my MBB to be made. Sorry in advance for the crappy iPhone photos.

I kinda like the red core.  I'll be interested to see how the new rainbow core fades over the next couple of years.

Agreed Chris.  I'm interested as well,  the rainbow core is kind of tough to visualize.  The red was a little easier to wrap my brain around.

Exactly, there are many "unknown" brands out there that are doing the exact same thing that many other brands are doing. The real crazy jeans like the colour change, glow in the dark or whatever may not appeal to true denim nerds, but it may appeal to a new, different type of client that wouldn't have bought raw denim simply for fades. (That's called marketing people). When Brandon does these wild and crazy denim projects, they uptake from denim media is all over it, it gets people talking about that brand. When a "generic raw denim brand" comes out with a new cut, or jean that is simliar to every other pair out there how often do you see media grab a hold of it?

(The Chris guy from Ducks Unlimited Brandon is talking about is me)

People watching that, see it are amazed a pair of jeans can stand on their own, that there is rasberry scented jeans and get on the old internet and check out the site. Marketing people! For every person here that looks at them and says what a stupid corney idea that is, there is another person who gets a laugh out of it and goes and picks up a pair.

                                        Live long, hunt hard.

If you ever wanna come shoot ducks at the bottom of the central flyway, I'd be more than happy to take you to a couple of our honey holes. It might be a fun challenge since they been shot at at bunch and are pretty wise to the way of the hunter…

...only caveat is you gotta be rocking some IH.
