Anyone know of a dealer, etc that specializes in vintage Girard Perregaux? My grandmother gave me my grandfather's watch and I'd like to find out more about it. As you can see the crystal and the face don't look too good. It is marked J14K on the back (along with my grandfather's initials), has a manual non-hacking movement and it is keeping good time.

I'm done with Omega. They have pulled out of my favorite retailers and won't discount at all at their boutiques. I paid 2900 for a new speedy a few years ago and now they are around five grand last time I checked at their boutique. No way.

Always wanted an original Fifty Fathoms, but the new incarnations are really growing on me

Another Fifty Fathoms. Also not mine, unfortunately

I'm tempted, but would probably go for the Aqua Lung instead.

Might just be me, but I couldn't ever wear a white watch, seems too feminine

I'm a bit in two minds about the white watch. I like it because it isn't as macho as the typical black faced sports watch, but I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to spend that much on one.

The nicest Fifty Fathoms models are probably the No Radiation (officially Tribute to Fifty Fathoms) that Giles was wearing, and the similar Tribute to Aqua Lung. The latter has a sapphire back with a really cool rotor.

I'd like the white face better if it were full lume.  I detest the date window placement at 4:30.  Always makes the watch look off balance to me.

                        Wonderful rotor on that one.

That no radiation icon appeals to the physicist in me.

I'm planning on doing the same thing with some of my less regularly worn watches.  Seems like a logical redistribution of funds.:)

Nice thing about the Debaufre Nav B is that they're constantly up for sale on the secondhand market, and pretty reasonably priced, too.  I love buying already depreciated watches.

Lol trying to sell my vintage JLC for a similar 'redistribution'

Were the repairs extensive, or did you get away with only minor damage to your wallet?
