RJ Martin gifted me one with a stainless steel blade

I think it's a great knife. Mirror polished the edges of the liners and gave it to Jody. She carries hers all the time, at least until we get our matching pair of Brum custom Kiridashis

      @DougNg:

What is semi auto? Like an assisted opener?

      Yeah, assisted opener.

Check out the Kershaw Zing, it's not assisted, but it might as well be with how easily it opens

Well it's either assisted or opening it completely with my teeth. I usually have something balanced in my left arm that needs to be cut open, so yeah… Needs to be auto...

            I don't think I've ever opened a knife with a thumbstud with two hands…

The Zing has both a thumbstud and the flipper. I'm not even going to try to explain the flipper. Just YouTube Kershaw Zing and you should be able to find a video

I think it's kinda decided that I'm going with a small Sebenza. It looks hard as fuck, I'm tired of springs breaking on autos, I'll learn how to open it just as quickly in a short while, and at 17 cm it's not too big.

Will purchase in July. But I'll have to order from Chris himself, cause this knife costs AT LEAST twice as much in €urope… Eg: Gatherwood, Ducth knifeshop, has the large Sebenza for sale at 950 $... 385 on the Reeves site...  😉

Edit: thanks for all the help, Doug!.. Truth is I fell in love with the Sebenza as soon as I saw your pic of it. Just a piece of equipment worthy of being clipped to IH jeans.

I might be wrong about this, but I don't remember the Umfaan having a clip either

                Right about this btw:

I can flick the thumbstud on my Sebenza in a way that the blade will come flying out as fast as an auto, so I wouldn't worry about that

Also, pretty much nothing can go wrong with the knife, it's very simple. If you need to break it down to clean it, it comes with an allen wrench to take it apart. Seriously, it's one of the best knives ever. Even guys that own drillions of dollars worth of customs will attest that the CRK Sebenza is one of the best (and one of the most iconic knives) ever.

When you get the knife, I would also get a tube of the CRK Fluorinated Grease. I don't like it for other knives, but it works great with the CRK's

A Sebenza is pretty easy to learn to open fast one-handed. I doubt that it'd take you more than 5 minutes to get comfortable with it.

Most states won't let you carry a fixed blade here. Pretty much all states won't let you carry a switchblade/butterfly knife

Folding knives are really what most states allow you to carry, and then there are local knife laws that dictate how large the folder can be. In NYC, it's 4" limit on the blade length. I believe in CA and MA it's less than 3"

That being said, I've carried larger folders than 4" and fixed blades in the past without getting harassed by police.

My Sebenza is about 3.5" in length, so I'm street legal today!

Maybe knife owners should start a section of the NRA because it seems like one can have a gun more easily than a knife!!!

There is actually a knife collectors association lobbying for knife rights, but I don't know much about them

I'm thinking about getting a Sebenza for Jody's son when he graduates from HS in a couple years. The kid loves knives (got him a Keryshaw Tyrade and a Benchmade Griptilian) and I think it would be the perfect time to get him a higher class of knife

I tried carrying a fixed blade for "oh $hit" situations for awhile and just couldn't find a comfortable way to do it.  It was a good excuse to buy an SLCC though…

Daveo, just got me a Strider ZM…

A few years ago, I wouldn't be caught dead with a slipjoint, but I'm older now, a little more sophisticated, and don't always want a tactical folder hanging out of my pocket all the time

That being said, I have a huge white fade on the rear right pocket of my 623SRs from my CRK Umnumzaan

A friend of mine EDC's a fruit knife…. slipjoint and extremely narrow. Surprisingly handsome and functional, despite locklessness and thrift. A knife is a knife!

I found the EDC thread on superfuture - very cool! So I thought I'd crosspost here… I lost my longtime Swiss military knife, and replaced it with an Emerson - seen here:

                                      Is that a Mini CQC7?

I used to have a ton of Emersons, the wave feature was so damn cool

Is that a Fenix light in there as well?

I'm heading to New Orleans next weekend, switching to my summer gear…meaning 14.5oz Flat Head denim and a Case Stockman instead of the CRK Umnumzaan
