Anyone knows any good sights, foods or places to go near the IHHQ?

Not too much in the area from what I saw when there. Am the guys there could get you taken some where (they are as lovely as everyone here, says. (Please pass on a hello to them for/from me)).

What Giles has said about the taxi drivers, a) not speaking/reading english, and b) not having a clue where you're going is 100% correct. I ended up around the corner @ a temple (1 minute walk away), he was sure I wanted the temple not IH-HQ.

We had the adventure of a lifetime when me and my wife decided to take the bus from Hachioji station to IHHQ in 2011. Got off at the wrong stop and wandered around for some time before we found a motorcycle shop and the guys there knew where we heading and printed out maps and stuff for us. They spoke as much english as we did japanese but everything worked out fine in the end

Yeah, I figured I could make it via bus (working iPhone+Maps = godsend), but felt the safety/knowing of a $40 round trip taxi out-weighed the bus :). Sounds like it was the right call. Glad you made it

Looks like I failed that challenge, she only called a cab back for me ;(. Will have to try harder this year
