Graeme, I really love this toe.

Graeme, I really love this toe.
I know.
Current spec is for the square toe, but no Thinsulate lining. (If you're not hiking in subzero temperatures then I don't think it's needed.) But I'm open to debate.
As for ordering through Giles, for those of us in the EU it means that shipping, import duties and VAT will be handled collectively. I think that it might work out slightly cheaper than going direct.

I have two favorites:
-Scout in full ice mocha cxl with a christy sole, same like the Superdenim modell
-Hiker or Pachena Bay in a dark brown leather (waxflesh or harness), Portland or another profile sole -
^^
Chuck, me and Graeme are trying to get a wax flesh hiker/Portland sole combo going with a square toe. Hop on board!!! -
What´s the difference in the fit between the normal and the square toebox?
-
Vibram do a bunch of ridiculous sole units that look like they were developed by Tonka.
Vibram Bifida (has side mouldings, which might preclude it from being used on a traditional boot)
-
Have received a message from jord666 with some interest in something similar. I really want the above. Brown wax flesh…Danite sole...maybe a cats paw....1940 service.
-
Seconded on ^^^^ or is it thirded
-
Giles will they do an 8 inch pull on western for you? Previously I think they've done that exclusively for japan
I'd be up for this or even the regular 11" western boots.
-
Graeme, I'm sure you've seen it, and I know it's the wrong sole, but Leffot has a harness leather hiker.

PS here's an interesting expose on WaxFlesh:

Joe, I don't know if I'd seen the Leffot Hikers before, but the brown harness leather looks good, and it'll age beautifully too. I think that they're using the Red Dog leather as the liner in that build too.
Leffot do a lot of interesting builds. There's even a Hiker in Merlot.
The description of the waxed flesh you posted was also really interesting. There was a posting on Indigoshrimp in which he applied dubbin (a waterproof wax) to a pair of rough out Hikers and achieved the same effect.
-
I like the harness leather more. Do you want the Boot for fashion or real hiking?
-
The harness leather looks cool. I'd prefer the wax flesh, but would be happy with either. Joe, what's your vote?
Chuck, do you have any opinions on lining colour?
I'm really looking for something that's a dual purpose boot, so that's going to mean using a chunky, cleated sole on it.

something like this. shell cordovan.

Personally, I'm in for a pair of Engineer boots in Merlot. If anyone else is into that idea, shout up.
I'm interested, I like this makeup:
Anyone else?
EDIT: brass hardware, single natural midsole…
