    I like them but if I were to drop coin on some Vibergs I would not get a toe cap. Looks a bit off to me for some reason. Other than that I think they are good.

        @Dirty:

        Anyone ever deal with the online site ushowu?  They are out of the Netherlands and have a pair of service boots I want.  Are they reputable ?  Here's the link to the pair they have for sale. http://www.ushowu.com/viberg-vintage-service-boot-rough-out

        nice boots;-)

          @Graeme:

          Astrogoji, I think that the brown engineer boot you posted has the deconstructed toe that I'm particularly fond of. Superdenim have a 1950 Service Boot in that style. I think that Viberg take out the stiffening and other structure out of the boot, making it a lot softer.

          I suspect that there might be a run on Merlot Engineers too… 😉

          I'm thinking about a pair of Hikers, probably a hybrid of the Four Horsemen City Hiker and the Chucs build with the square toe. So a deconstructed boot, without the insulation and fibreglass toebox, and with the completely ludicrous Portland sole.

          Not sure about leather. The wax flesh is probably my favourite, but they look good in the Merlot too.

          love the deconstructed toe on just about everything viberg puts out.  really like the waxed flesh and it got me thinking how many other "secret" leathers there are in the viberg vault.  if I'm not mistaken they primarily use two tanneries: the legendary horween and seidel tannery.  Seidel seems to have some unusual offerings like the "aged bark" and "harness brown" as well as the more basic black oil tan and brown oil tan colors.

          I've only seen one square toed viberg hiker before, are these the ones you mean?

              And scroll down a few posts for the spec.  I will be doing a "call for custom orders" early in the New Year….

                  ^and i know to who they belong to! 😉 great choice andi!

                  @nerkg:

                  I'm looking for rugged solid comfortable waterproof hiking/work boots… In the 200 range. Wtf

                  not sure, but you're in the viberg thread, so what answer do you expect?
                  maybe ask in a different/appropriated thread to get an answer on this…but if you want a viberg in that range, it's a mission impossible I'm affraid (unless it's heavily fekked!)!...

                  DD - love the look of that service boot, but i'd also say/advice you to wait on the next round of G's custom order. you're going to be even more satisfied with wearing a boot you've put all the love and ideas into, as one that everybody can buy/have/wear and one that you're not that blown away from!...

                                        I think viberg avoids the horsehide these days.

                                          Hi supersalami lots of our friends incl myself own a 50's service boot around, look at the last pages. They come in different styles and looks (toe cap, no toe cap, sole, leather, color etc). Which one do you like? I went for a clean classy but rough look with mine and they fitted me the best. Cant go wrong with the 50's

                                          Cheers,
                                          David
