so today is the first day without the foil over my tattoo. cleaned and creamed it this morning and now i´m wearing a simple t over it…how are you guys care for your tattoo after the first few days? should i prevent it from soap while showering or what do you guys pay attention to?

Gentle soaping, pat dry and then a thin coat of moisturiser (if at all) for a couple days then nothing for me personally.

I always clean very well with fragrance free soap and water don't rub hard its ok to wash just don't get it saturated. Pat dry, don't scratch it and use a skin healing ointment the 1st week. After that fragrance and dye free moisturizer 3 times a day if possible. I like Aveeno.

Finn mate awesome first ink, Looks beautiful and impressive chest. Myself, I do not care that much just shower with pH neutral soap and cream three times a day a tiny bit with bepathen plus (the one for tattoos you may ask in your pharmacie). Just do not scratch on it doesnt matter how much it itches. Cool it a bit with a wet towel if necessary and let it breath as much as possible. With ur chest shouldnt be a prob man 😉

            Cheers,
            David

Yup, the most basic soap you can find (we like Dial, fragrance free) and then Aquaphor

Just remember to use as little as possible. Enough to make your skin shiny, nothing more

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

The worst part I find actually is the hair growing back from where they shaved it. Drives me nuts.

well all i did till today is that i´ve renewed the foil two times a day, in the morning and before going to bed. i´ve cleaned the tattoo with luke-warm water per hand, after removing the foil, patted it dry and then used a skin healing ointment and put on a new layer of foil.

did the same thing today without adding the foil…think i´m gonna clean it with fragrance free soap this evening and then thread it with skin healing ointment till the end of week one, which is friday...

                  you guys are d´accord?

thanks buddy and i really love it…somehow still a bit odd since my chest was "clean" for 25years now and now i´m going to have something on it for the rest of my life 😛
and yeah, i use Panthenol from Liechtenstein...it´s the same as Bepanthen just a bit easier spread. and yeah, the itching was bad yesterday, since it got a bit warm under the foil but now i´m cool with it...hope it isn´t getting worse though 😛

"breath as much as possible"...topless through the day, well more through the house that is, right? 🙂

well i´ve copped the same cream he used on me before putting the foil on my chest. like stated above it´s the same as Bepanthen, just from Liechtenstein, which is easier to spread he said!

i don´t have a problem with that, since it almost takes like 3 weeks till i reach that point before shaving…my hair grow pretty slow...thanks god! 🙂

hmmm..several days with foil. I have everytime taken the foil off just couple of hours later, showered same evening…

My artist said not to use Bepanthen, as it heals skin, so it might push color out. Last time I used cream called Helosan.

well i guess every artist has his own methods and in the end every method might bring the exact same result…maybe!
since it is my first tattoo and since i trust my man, i rolled with his advice (tattooing for 16years now and never had any kinda problems with his work afterwards!).

this is what i use btw.:

I've been reading about aftercare quite a bit recently and it seems every artist has their own opinions and nobody's done any scientific study of which is better. The only consistent piece of advice I've manage to find is that whatever cream you use, don't put it on too thick.

Yeah IJ it is a science with the creams I know.
Anyway i fully trust my Artist.
A lot of Artists have their own method and recommendations which is good. Myself have never experienced colorloss issue but have heard of it. But mostly because of user "fault" though when moisturing too much.

                                    Cheers,

I do this: put a pea sized amount on my finger, then spread as far as that pea will go. Repeat until the entire tattoo is covered

You should just apply enough to make your skin shiny. Any more and your skin won't be able to breathe
