Hardlex is just Seiko's " brand name" for a mineral crystal. Nowhere near as scratch resitant as sapphire, and sadly not polishable either so you can't get the scratches out. That being said, I've had two watches with mineral crystals and I haven't gotten any noticeable scratches in them….

    AIAN HA-TO!

      @Seul:

I was able to scratch a sapphire dial…

Damn, Seul- how did you scratch a sapphire crystal?  That's really tough to do…

They're light scracthes, maybe I can polish it… Either way... Now back to staring at:

Someone was able to put on a steel bracelet on this'un, although they had to fiddle with it… Pretty sure that shouldn't be left to me...

Also staring at old Omega Seamasters…

But neither have steel bracelets (obv some later Seamaster models have), and neither are big enough (34 mm is too small, as you pointed out Chris; my Weil is 42 mm and I don't think I wanna go under 38 ).

I was able to scratch my Explorer crystal on a patient bed in the ICU. Luckily it's not all that noticeable so I'll avoid eating the cost of a new crystal for now.
Edited to add: Those Seiko cocktail watches are really cool and Seiya is the way to go for those hard to get Japanese domestics IMO.

Really?  Damn, what do they use to make the beds at your hospital?

Hey, any of you brains know if I can polish Hardlex? (I.e.: there are scratches)

                Thanks

Doh, just noticed that Jii already answered this. Not even with some diamond paste (I just made that up, is there such a thing?)

There is, and and it's possible to polish out a scratch with it.  It's slow and delicate work, though.  You're likely to wind up with an uneven and distorted surface when you're done.  If you have a common model Seiko like a Monster or a SKX diver it would probably be better to replace it.  You can even get sapphire crystals for some of those models and they're relatively cheap ($40-50, if I recall correctly).

I have a discus burger, I can't imagine being able to get a new crystal.

                      thanks though Chris

As you can see it is a bit beat up. It is on a 22mm (notched to the 20mm lugs) strap that Jii gave me (thanks again, its still better than the Toshi I had):

                            Hectic,
That Discus Burger is not only a rare watch, it's sexy as hell. I wish I would have picked one up when I had the chance to be honest.

For now, I've been on a Tender Co binge and had to pick up this guy. It just arrived tonight so please excuse my crummy cell phone pic.

Anesthetist, they come up so rarely, there was one on Ebay recently (black and rose gold) that went for about 1100 bucks. I really want the steel braceleted one. I dont think they made too many right?

Re: Your new Tender - is it oriented like that for driving?

^^ It looks like it ^^ the Tender that is.

Also that discus wearing that toshi looks interesting, but personally i like it more if paired with its original strap.. but thats just me. Love that Burger..

After about a month if daily wear and a few quick dives with it the other day I must say I love this watch…

Rafa, how are you liking that Orient? I've been deciding between a Mako and a Monster for nearly a year now. Time to get off the pot or shit I think.

Any opinions on the two watches you knowledgable people?

Mega - well what to say…imo it's a lot of bang for the buck. great watch, great size (not too big,not too small!), great detailing and it looks like a lot of love was put into it as well. the blue dial is amazing and the steel bracelet is perfect as well!
you really can't go wrong with this one lad...

                                          just my 2cents o/course 😉
