You might want to send your knife in for servicing.

I will eventually. They really do a complete check-up for free, it's quite nice!.. As soon as I'm mentally able to miss it for a week or two…  ::)

Unless you need to have something replaced because of abuse, then you'll have to pay for it. And they can can tell when it's been abused. Chris one time pointed out a user/abuser had flicked his knife open hundreds of time by the way that the stop pin was deformed. Pretty amazing

I'm sure I've opened my knife thousands, if not tens of thousands of times… I work with it... I mean: should I just look at it?..

It doesn't matter if they charge me a fee though...

Flicking your knife open is not the same as opening it. Opening it means you open it with just your thumb, fast or slow doesn't matter. Flicking it means you're using your wrist or entire arm to snap the blade in place. Chris likens it to slamming a car door OPEN

Shit, of course… I've never flicked it open, nor have I ever attempted doing so...

That's for the record, Mr. Reeve...  😉

Try a CRKT Eros or Ripple. They come in two sizes as well. They flip as fast if not faster than an automatic. Great fun for the price. Should keep you busy for a couple weeks.

Alright knife guys, I want an assisted open, 4" or smaller, made in USA(unless you convince me otherwise) pocket knife for under $75.

                Any ideas?

I'm more interested in the Levis of the knife world or my cash flow is anyways…

Microtech might be worth checking out…

I love my Kershaw 1620 frame lock, and my wife loves the pink mini version I got her. Make it a him/her thing 🙂

Fat dudes need good clothes too.

Have a Kershaw Zing up for sale btw… Although nemesisnow1200 (from the IH forum) expressed interest...

Anyway: if you want a cheap, US made knife, Kershaw is the way to go...

If shopping on eBay, buy from this lad:

If you're willing to go a little over your $75 budget:

                            http://www.knifeworks.com/kershawkenonionbluraluminumandcarbonfiberhandles154cm.aspx

It's a classic. And Alton Brown's every day carry. Great knife materials. There are other Blurs that cost less, but they use skateboard tape on the handle, and will not be kind on your jeans

The Kershaw Leek is also one of my favorites. This one is particularly awesome

                            http://www.knifeworks.com/kershawleekstainlesssteelhandlesandvik13c26cpm-d2compositeplainedge.aspx

If you're willing to budge from your made in the USA requirement:

                            http://www.knifeworks.com/columbiariveronionripplebluestainlesssteelhandleplainedge.aspx

It's not assisted open, doesn't need the spring. It uses ball bearings in the handle, and flips open faster than an assisted open. It's Jody's every day carry, I carry mine occassionally (I usually carry a CRKT Eros). Slim, fast, great ergonomics, and really really beautiful. Made in Taiwan, but the warranty is fantastic as the company is headquartered in Portland. They'll take care of you if you have any issues

Btw, you might have issues getting a knife shipped to NY by a retailer because of the current knife crackdown there. Best bet is to use a proxy

Btw, the standard Zing is not assisted open, but the new Stainless Steel handled one is

Also, the Kershaw Cryo is a good pick too. Rick Hinderer is a brilliant designer. Not made in the US though

I'm gonna look over all these. And you just read my mind Doug. Kershaw Cryo and Leek were in my amazon cart last night but I waited to see if anyone had any advice. Looks like I was on the right cheap track.

Also, I've only had CRKT knives for the last few years and I do really love the brand too. I'll look into the Eros as well.

The seller was tercat265 he sold me 2 bnib etc for USD20 each...

Hit me up if you need to ship to my house and then I'll ship to yours. NYC has become a nanny state, and has really cracked down on knife sales

Kershaw is usually better to get through Amazon because of their warranty policy. I usually go though Knifeworks.com, Knifecenter.com, or Newgraham.com when I can't go through Amazon for production knives. GPKnives.com also has good prices but I've never shopped through them
