Yeah - guess you're right… Although I've opened lotsa crates and bent nails and such with my Sebenza... But good to hear it's serving you well, mate!..

        🤦

You might want to send your knife in for servicing. Even if the blade isn't bent yet, you've probably done damage to the pivot or the stop pin. Eventually, the lock will fail, if that hasn't also suffered damage already

I've never understood why people pry with their knives. Prying with a Sebenza is like opening the door to a BMW and then sitting on top of it. The hinge just isn't made for that stress

Only knife I would ever consider using as a pry bar is a Hinderer, knives are for cutting…just sayin.

And if I were to use a Hinderer for that, it would be because my family is on the other side of a door in a room that's on fire

Using the Applegate for prying was unwise as well. It's only full stock down that narrow strip down the middle. The knife is a dagger. Strong for stabbing, about as weak as a knife can get for prying

If you really want a stout folder, I would also look into the Zero Tolerance line. I have a 0560 and it's as stout as my XM-18 at half the price

Amen. I sometimes have trouble using my XM-18s (especially when they're new) for normal tasks.

But seriously, it is a VERY BAD idea to use any folder for prying, I don't care how "hard use" the folder is. If you must pry with a tool made to cut go with a Busse and you should be fine.

I will eventually. They really do a complete check-up for free, it's quite nice!.. As soon as I'm mentally able to miss it for a week or two…  ::)

Unless you need to have something replaced because of abuse, then you'll have to pay for it. And they can can tell when it's been abused. Chris one time pointed out a user/abuser had flicked his knife open hundreds of time by the way that the stop pin was deformed. Pretty amazing

It doesn't matter if they charge me a fee though...

Flicking your knife open is not the same as opening it. Opening it means you open it with just your thumb, fast or slow doesn't matter. Flicking it means you're using your wrist or entire arm to snap the blade in place. Chris likens it to slamming a car door OPEN

Try a CRKT Eros or Ripple. They come in two sizes as well. They flip as fast if not faster than an automatic. Great fun for the price. Should keep you busy for a couple weeks.

                            Any ideas?

I'm more interested in the Levis of the knife world or my cash flow is anyways…

If you're willing to go a little over your $75 budget:

                                        http://www.knifeworks.com/kershawkenonionbluraluminumandcarbonfiberhandles154cm.aspx

It's a classic. And Alton Brown's every day carry. Great knife materials. There are other Blurs that cost less, but they use skateboard tape on the handle, and will not be kind on your jeans

The Kershaw Leek is also one of my favorites. This one is particularly awesome

                                        http://www.knifeworks.com/kershawleekstainlesssteelhandlesandvik13c26cpm-d2compositeplainedge.aspx

If you're willing to budge from your made in the USA requirement:

                                        http://www.knifeworks.com/columbiariveronionripplebluestainlesssteelhandleplainedge.aspx

It's not assisted open, doesn't need the spring. It uses ball bearings in the handle, and flips open faster than an assisted open. It's Jody's every day carry, I carry mine occassionally (I usually carry a CRKT Eros). Slim, fast, great ergonomics, and really really beautiful. Made in Taiwan, but the warranty is fantastic as the company is headquartered in Portland. They'll take care of you if you have any issues

Btw, you might have issues getting a knife shipped to NY by a retailer because of the current knife crackdown there. Best bet is to use a proxy
