Now you've really got me curious Stewart. Those monitors resemble a Unix-based system (X-Windows) and it appears as if number-crunching or coding is happening. You're a computer geek, aren't you ?

Looks like a stock broker's workstation. That also explains the no jeans rule.

Matter of social standing, and professional appearance representing a company that deals with huge amounts of money. Even in the US I believe the guys at the big brokerage firms are supposed to dress the part. It's a mindset that if you are shifting millions you shouldn't be dressed like a slacker or common worker.

the main thing about the shirts were that, imo, the fabric is too heavy and not suitable for a shirt - didnt look good when you rolled up the arms. which i didnt like cuz i almost always wear my shirts like that. i dont like press buttons on anything that isnt a denim shirt either. now they might use press buttons cuz of the heavy fabric, guess they would be harder to button up otherwise. and the jeans were, well, sanforized and i didnt like the rivets either. so yeah, mostly personal preferences. nothing wrong with the quality!

                ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?????????????????????????????????????
i didnt want to be a dick to the guy there, but…

Or you could call it "instant karma". You do well, the reward will be big. You screw up, and instant karma will pulverize you. Unless you are so high up that you can squander away billions and still get away with it until "slow karma" might eventually catch up. 🙂

I've worked with brilliant people in the software industry who have high-school educations...they taught themselves and their self-learned skills put me to shame ! I'm a wage slave too, though I'm fairly highly educated. Most of us are !

Bummer ! I was too obese for the IH-9461 W29 (SuperBlack boot cut) which Giles just sent me, so I'm shipping them back. Well, it's really weird…I have several pair of W28/29 IH jeans from Giles and Kiya but I've never had a 2nd button problem ! What I mean is, yes…I usually have difficulty buttoning up the top button -- which works itself out because Iron Hearts stretch so profusely that upon 2 weeks, the jeans are actually a bit loose and require a belt. But the 2nd-from-the-top-button ? Never. I've never ever struggled with that one. But with the latest shipped jeans from G., I had that problem so I'm sending the jeans back to him this morning.

The red IHSH-16 Heavy Chambray though is indescribable. Seriously, I'm orgasmic over it. Peeps, if you have not bought this shirt in SOME COLOR -- please get one !

Next week, I'll receive the Iron Heart Ladies Denim Jacket in a "Medium". Hope it fits or Shubha's gonna be saddddddd....

Things are gonna change. It's sad but true. I've just accepted a very demanding job at a startup company in Berkeley…I doubt that I will have 1-2 hours a day to log on the forum. So, if I disappear...don't take it personally. I'll still check in on the weekends. Just warning ya...

You may wonder. Why did Shubha just sign up to ruin her life ? There was nothing wrong with her previous job. She's adored and well-respected, the job was very stable. Here's the answer : for a challenge. I'm into constantly pushing and challenging myself – that's my life motto. That's why.

@ Shubz, I totally relate to what you are saying but you (and I) are an amalgam of the old and new school, whilst we may embrace technology in lots of ways we still adhere to older paradigms of interaction/social enagagement etc.

I conjecture that humans are now evolving differently in this respect; distinctions between on/offline, virutal or otherwise, are probably less important to people Simon's age. Perhaps I could make a crude analogy; as computing migrates increasingly into the cloud then we may see other human attributes being up-streamed into other substrates, e.g.: google (etc) is a type of exo-cortex taking over mundane computing tasks that you might previously had to work out (shock, horror) on your own (using something called a book). Similarly, facebook et al may represent to many people a completely viable social space, in no way inferior to f-to-f. I do know a few people playing Wiorld of Warcraft who swear that their relationships are just as valid as an RL ones.

                                            Just my little ramble…

                                            @ G - you da man.

Continuing the discussion here. hectic, I'm very open…as you can see, I'm extremely open on this forum and even to internet "email" friends. Why ? Cuz  I have nothing to hide -- I may as well be myself.

But that's not emotional intimacy or close friendship. That's just Shubha being Shubha.
