Bummer ! I was too obese for the IH-9461 W29 (SuperBlack boot cut) which Giles just sent me, so I'm shipping them back. Well, it's really weird…I have several pair of W28/29 IH jeans from Giles and Kiya but I've never had a 2nd button problem ! What I mean is, yes…I usually have difficulty buttoning up the top button -- which works itself out because Iron Hearts stretch so profusely that upon 2 weeks, the jeans are actually a bit loose and require a belt. But the 2nd-from-the-top-button ? Never. I've never ever struggled with that one. But with the latest shipped jeans from G., I had that problem so I'm sending the jeans back to him this morning.
The red IHSH-16 Heavy Chambray though is indescribable. Seriously, I'm orgasmic over it. Peeps, if you have not bought this shirt in SOME COLOR -- please get one !
Next week, I'll receive the Iron Heart Ladies Denim Jacket in a "Medium". Hope it fits or Shubha's gonna be saddddddd....

You may wonder. Why did Shubha just sign up to ruin her life ? There was nothing wrong with her previous job. She's adored and well-respected, the job was very stable. Here's the answer : for a challenge. I'm into constantly pushing and challenging myself – that's my life motto. That's why.

@ Shubz, I totally relate to what you are saying but you (and I) are an amalgam of the old and new school, whilst we may embrace technology in lots of ways we still adhere to older paradigms of interaction/social enagagement etc.
I conjecture that humans are now evolving differently in this respect; distinctions between on/offline, virutal or otherwise, are probably less important to people Simon's age. Perhaps I could make a crude analogy; as computing migrates increasingly into the cloud then we may see other human attributes being up-streamed into other substrates, e.g.: google (etc) is a type of exo-cortex taking over mundane computing tasks that you might previously had to work out (shock, horror) on your own (using something called a book). Similarly, facebook et al may represent to many people a completely viable social space, in no way inferior to f-to-f. I do know a few people playing Wiorld of Warcraft who swear that their relationships are just as valid as an RL ones.
Just my little ramble…
@ G - you da man.
Continuing the discussion here. hectic, I'm very open…as you can see, I'm extremely open on this forum and even to internet "email" friends. Why ? Cuz I have nothing to hide -- I may as well be myself.
But that's not emotional intimacy or close friendship. That's just Shubha being Shubha.

Yeah, its like forking a "ghost" that is sent off into the internet which has a lot of the attributes of the physical person but doesnt truly encapsulate the full qualities of that person.
A lot of contemporary sci-fi comments on the possibilities of this forking, and posits autonomous "ghosts" that are later reincorporated back into the source.
FWIW I like your IH persona.

Thank God for this thread is all I have to say!

Good post, Simon.
Whatever the means of communication used there are some principles of social engagement that are constant. You don't post inflammatory, pointless abuse. You dont behave like some sort of douche, etc.
You contribute eloquently and interestingly, you have meaningful opinions. Ergo, I consider you to be on the same general pages as me (see what I did there…:)
I expect you have a good social life in RL - as they say: "As above, so below".
Until the internet (or whatever it turns into) catches up with human needs (in terms of human/computer interface design), there will always be a lag in intention/output. It'll get there though.

More like where would we put all the random stuff I don't need to read…

Hmmm… These pov's are interesting to me, very interesting. While I can understand how one feels a distinct disconnect with others that they have not met, I also feel like there has to be a level of willingness to go out and be willing to befriend someone whom you only know as a screenname, avatar, posts and occasional picture or two. I agree with what shubbz said about going to europe to meet up and that she'd really only do that if she were also going to see her cousin, but, with Beats' case for example, she is like a rock star in our little denim world. Anybody who has been into this for a few years has GOT to know who Beatle is, or if not they have to have at least heard of her. On that reason alone, there is a ton of networking that goes along with who she is and why I feel she totally should come to the SE party and how I feel that she will be totally welcomed with open arms. I can see this from a few other very active members from far away and close as well, Edmond, Kiya, Giles, Sid. All of them are known of at least by name and association, and all of them also have networked over the past few years quite well.
Basically what I'm trying to convey is that while most people wouldn't really be willing to bring anybody from the forum to their house for an extended period of time without having previously known, met and conversed; I feel that one should most def be willing to at least have lunch or a conversation with another. Ehh, I dunno, maybe its because I've been very easy going and friendly and such over the past few years toward others and readily trusting of ones character I may be a tad biased, but I'm totally excited to meet giles, beats, lando and everyone else that I'ma meet in person for the first time at the may 1st event.
