Joe, you don't look fat to me. Just look like you enjoy southern food as much as me!  😃

I'm drinking sweet tea, eating fried chicken, collard greens and a biscuit right now.

just realized I posted a photo of my wife's friends kid on the interweb without permission…felt kind of kreepy so I took it down. Sorry for those of you that didn't get to see my awesome fatness. As soon as I can figure out how to edit the pictures in a program other than MS-paint, I'll repost.  😞

                      Thanks JSJ

I was darn near 300lbs at one point a few years back.  Bit I found out I have diabetes and really changed my lifestyle quite a lot.  Besides the 50 lbs of pure fat I lost I have also gained about 30 lbs of muscle 😉
Still a fat/chubby guy but a pretty strong one now.

You look fine and it looks like you got a great fit on those.  Thinking I may need to size down but I want to think about it a bit more now.  I do plan to lose another 20 lbs within the next year and that should put me close to some visible abs (and even closer to 38's) as I plan to keep lifting pretty hard.

I think I just talked myself into waiting a little while and going for the 38's

I know this is a probably the best cut for me since i already read about measuring and measured my favorite pair of jeans up - they are lucky's no laughs please.

                                Hi everybody,

have really been enjoying your enthusiasm in the forum - great opportunity for a beginner like me to learn about denim and Iron heart. Now that I´m ready for my first pair I kindly ask you for some assistance in finding the right size.

Followed the general advice and measured a pair of good fitting Levi´s (no Raws). Like most of my jeans they´re a 33w x 34l. So why not downsizing 1 to 32? Answer is that I´m slightly irritated by the actual waist, which is a 35.8 (!). They surely have also stretched a little bit, but they were not super-tight when I bought them. Is it possible that Levi´s sizing isn´t correct?

                                The stats:
                                Waist   35.8
                                Front Rise 10,4
                                Thigh: 12,9
                                Knee:   9,1
                                Rear rise: 14,9
                                Inseam: 34.6

What would you guys recommend? TTS 33  or sizing down to 32? Your help is appreciated!

going by your Levi's waist measurements I'd go for 34.

sizing down to 32 would be pushing your luck. 32s will stretch to 34 if pushed but to 35,8 is almost 4".  Evev 33's might end up being tight at waist all the time.

I think sizing like Levis is called vanity sizing.  Tehy'll make you feel smaller than you really are.

                                  IMHO.

I'm sure somebody else will also chime in…

Thank you. Funny thing though is that all my jeans are 33w (Carhartt e.g.). But maybe a lot of the big players do 'vanity sizing'  - what are your experiences with that?

Measure the Carhartt as well. If I remember correctly, there will be size 35 for the 634S'es soon. Size 34 would work but could be tight for a while…

Exactly the same. Maybe it also has something to do with the actual position on the hip (the lower the more stretch..). I´ve never owned any trousers with a w35 (34 only when I was looking for something loose), that´s why I´m reluctant to go in that direction when the general advice is TTS or 1 down.

I'm pretty sure all the mainstream brands do it to some extent or another.  Based on your measurements, I'd agree with IJ and recommend a 34.  Seul's right, too.  They'll be snug for a while.
