All Things Mac/ Apple

Talking of all things MAC. Woke up this morning to Mail crashing with a "Mail quit unexpectedly" message. Apple support wanted to charged me USD55 per hour to help. Am currently downloading Snow Lion (for USD20) because then I will be in warranty and they'll help me out for nothing…..
About one in twenty crashes, I manage to down load mails before it crashes. Then if I turn WiFi off I can restart and work on those mails.
Reconnect to WiFi and it manages to send the mails before if crashes again..

Oh, must mean a new iPhone is coming. Happens every time.

Part of the "magical" Apple experience, huh?
-
10.8 is definitely a better OS than 10.7 - hopefully upgrading solves your problem.
Can I assume that you shut your computer down every night?
Have you tried trashing the preferences? That often fixes bugs.
-
That is definitely part of the problem. Shut it down every night and see if that doesn't make it run better.

Good to hear. I work in an office with 100 Macs. They can be temperamental.

Who's getting an iPhone 5?

Who's getting an iPhone 5?
I'm in for one, even though the changes aren't as groundbreaking as some would like. It's all in the details to me anyway.

Who's getting an iPhone 5?
Me. But then again I've owned every iteration regardless of new features
-
Yeah, even though the upgrades are nothing groundbreaking, it will be nice to have 4G and a faster processor. I've got an upgrade so I'm good. Also, my iphone4 power button has been fidgety for the last few months and hardly works, so it will be nice to get a new phone. Probably jump up to a 64gb from my current 32gb as well.
Wonder when they'll announce this iPad mini thing. Not that I need it.
-
Looking forward to my upgrade. Worked out a deal with my dad he goes to the Apple store 2am on the 21st and I buy him an iPhone 5 for waiting in line for me. My iPhone 4 home button has been broken for months.

Guys, try this fix for the unresponsive iPhone home button. Worked a treat for me
From time to time, the iPhone Home button can become less responsive to clicks, and pressing the button will either result in a delay, lag, or sometimes complete unresponsiveness requiring multiple clicks. While this could be symptomatic of a hardware issue caused by moisture damage or dropping the phone, sometimes you can fix the response problem with the following sequence:
Open a default iOS application, such as Stocks, Calculator, or Weather
Press and hold down the Power button until the “Slide to Power Off” dialog appears, then release
Now press and hold the Home button until the “Slide to Power Off” screen disappears, force quitting the application
Why this works to fix the buttons responsiveness isn’t entirely clear, because the procedure actually just force quits the application you launched in the first step. This procedure supposedly recalibrates the Home button. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, it does seem to work and definitely has made mine seem to respond quicker. This should also help the iPad and iPod touch home buttons as well. If you try this and still have problems with the home button being unresponsive, you may just need to get it repaired.
Also, there is a "spare", on screen home button in your settings if this is a hardware fault.
