If you get hit customs duty when we ship, you'll be in the 2% of unlucky Canadians who have got hit when we ship to Canada, and we ship to Canada almost daily…...
I was not hit with customs for the first couple of orders. After that, it seems they smartened up and I've been hit ever since.
-
RAWR is based in Canada, so that will be a good solution. At least if I get another pair of 666s I know how they fit.
And I'm sensitive to customs - I got hit with $88 on a $200 pair of sneakers yesterday. Ouch.
-
Its not the customs (sales tax) thats out of the normal, its the 'brokerage' fees added on top when a courier service is used that don't appear when parcels come through regular (national) mail systems.
If I had ordered based on what I thought my size was, I would have ended up with a bad fit. Trying on was key, and I am grateful to the fact I was able to do so through Serpentine. I love my IH-634S and would like more IH gear, but am very reluctant to mail order.
Guess I'll have to wait for US/UK trips. Can't be mad about a very small product selection available, very small market up here.
-
I'll be in TO until Wed morning if anyone wants to hang. PM me.
-
That's pretty much how I roll through TO.

@urban - just saw your post now. Next time you're in town and you have some free time, email me at lorriezwer@gmail.com

Toronto based IronHeart retailer "Serpentine" has moved. Not far, kind of down the street and around the corner kinda thing.
Saturday August 18th 2012.
New Location:132 Cumberland, M5R 1A6
Re-Opening Sale
60-70% off all clothing and select footwear and jewelry
-
Urban Woodsman called. IH not on sale. Of course.
-
60-70% off? Damn, that's more like a Going Out of Business Sale…
-
I'm not surprised, Giles said the margins are small. When I went there they had IH-634S priced at over $400, when I said it was $360 on the IH website they were surprised and said the prices change sometimes? They sold them to me for $360 though. Canadian market is quite small, not super surprised that there aren't many retailers up here with IH.
Would like to get down to SelfEdge NY some day to see a more full collection and other goodies. Maybe I'll hold off until I go back to the UK to visit family.

Wow!!
I had a bad feeling about it to be honest but I wanted the jeans. Quite a few things in the store are priced much higher than the makers sell them for. I know its a boutique in a high end fashion district and prices reflect that but…
Example: Iron and Resin t-shirt sells for $35 from I&R, and they're selling them for close to $90.
I'm happy to pay for quality goods, but being ripped off is a big piss off.
-
Anything you buy (even those made in the U.S.) in Canada are priced higher…....
-
Some things are, not all.
What I'm saying though is I'm going to buy it where the best deal is. Even after shipping from the US and paying tax (the same retail tax I would pay in store) its lots cheaper to buy from the USA direct.
Now I find out that they lied to me about the price of what they were selling, I'm really not thinking of going back there again. Its not paying the price thats my issue its that I'm not going to pay someone else MORE than what the manufacturer is asking for the same product. I think thats fair?
-
I paid $400 at Serpentine for my 666s - same as Self Edge. More worryingly, they didn't know the jeans are unsanforized.
-
That isn't very encouraging for sales staff product knowledge. Oh well. They did me a favour by providing hands on feel for IH gear. Just needed to see it to give me a push over the edge.
-
Yeah, me as well.
-
Wishing there was a local dealer with the jackets in stock.
I need to try on L, XL and XXL versions of the IH-526J and Riders. Need to confirm fit.
