Did you ever use a sewing machine before? Those projects you are showing are intermediate level, not beginner's level. It is a great idea to get a paper bag first. But I would go one step further. Get some cheap trial cotton cloth. It is the undyed, unsanforized raw cotton, beige in color. That's usually the cheapest. However, sometimes you can find even denim cloth cheaper than that. It will pay to look around a little bit. When you have the trial cloth, make a first bag with all the features. Important: Take notes while you do it. There will be so many things that you won't remember all of them when you hit the real cloth. Then make a work protocol. That is a list of steps in the process. Even (and especially) seasoned pros do that.
Make sure you have tried out the settings for the machine with the actual material and that you have a needle suitable for that material with a couple of back-up needles. It is a whole different deal whether you are stitching two layers of denim or four. The thread tension needs to be different.
One particular challenge will be how to make clean edges. You can use edge band like he did in one of your links or you can hem them or you can actually line the bag (don't do that!). Edge band will be easiest but practice on some scraps first. We are talking about being off by not more than 1mm when you do the edge band.
It also really helps to have a good iron and iron the pieces and folds well BEFORE you start sewing.
Finally, don't set your hopes too high for it being an epic bag. It might well become an epic battle but the first bag most likely will not be epic.

not a biker rally (like the Bulldog Bash - used to go to that in the '90's), but a rock 'n' roll weekend - my dad loves that scene, we (my bro & sisters) are going for his 69th birthday.

Its a few mins until 2am, and I'm watching Reservior Dogs. This movie is the fuckin shit. I must have seen this movie at least a hundred times in my teens. Kinda wish I had a brewski tho… I could go for a nice Hef or, in spirit of the movie, a 'Mr.' Blonde. Hahaha

Wow, lots of random news in my absence ! Guess what, I just paypal'd foldingsocks. A bidding war ensued for these jeans and I won out at $250 (with an extra $7 for the gift fee). Still worth it - what a great price for some virtually new SEXIH03 in W28 ! This was one of those "can't afford" but "glad I did" purchases. It was not budgeted, put it that way. G., the 634SR will have to wait indefinitely longer now – which is A-OK since no doubt, Cyclists are a proven good fit for Shubha. I normally don't do SuFu but I simply could not pass these up.
