What a bitch of a day. For some reason, UPS World Ship only works under Windows and they won't load it onto a Mac running VMWare. So we have a Dell lap top just for shipping. It's only 3 months old as the previous one crapped out. Today it stopped communicating with the printer, it can see it, knows it's there but wont effing print. Tried all the usual shit like deleting and reinstalling. So to actually be able to ship we have had to print to Adobe, take the files to one of the Macs and print. It has taken feckin ages. To crown it all, in the moving of memory sticks backwards and feckin forwards I knocked a cup of coffee over the key board and mouse of my Big Mac. New keyboard required. Paula is feckin off on Holiday for a week on Monday - I suspect she thinks I'll have it all sorted when she comes back….

Printers are shits. Bane of my existence when I used to do desktop support.
Yes, this exactly. Even back in the dark ages of Windows 95 and local printers hard wired to the desktops, printers were the source of 75% of my work. The other 25% was "user error"; the unbelievable stupidity of the people having problems with their computer.

Giles: you really should meet my dad and watch his PC skills… Told him to aim his mouse at the mid of the screen and he physically picked up the thing and placed it against it... My uncle witnessed that as well and I honestly didn't think either of us was gonna survive the 15 minutes of breathless laughter which ensued...

I once had to explain to an older lady in our office how to comply with the command, "press any key to continue". She couldn't find the "Any" button on the keyboard.

Actually, it’s 5 nights (4 days in Spain) and there will be 23 of us and of course I am
delighteddevastated that G isn’t joining us, I will just have to drink his share of cava…
