^^ this ^^ but personally prefer victorinox swiss army designs more.. Also you can browse seiko 5 which offers good designs (military/pilot style) for less the $$

Tough, heavy and ready! = IRON HEART

Big draw for Luminox seems to be the tritium tubes.  Hard to find a cheaper option, if you're looking for tritium.  Plus they're pretty tough, if you plan on subjecting the watch to a beating.

Ball is also a good option for tritium.

I had one, there very well made.  Unfortunately I let my brother borrow the watch and he lost it.
You can buy one second hand for less than a G.

Yeah, Ball really does make nice tritium watches.  They've done some really nice things with multi-color lume tubes.  They run about 10X the price of Luminox, though, which can be off-putting to some.

Ball are nice, my colleague has the Engineer Master II Diver variant. Its a nice thing but I think it punches below its weight for the money.

I have owned a couple of Ball Fireman and Spacemaster watches and they are pretty darn good if you can get them on the used market. I think that for what my Spacemaster cost me new, I should have bought a used Speedmaster or used Rolex Air King. However, my wife has a ladies sized Trainmaster and has put it through hell and it looks pretty good/keeps good time. Funny thing was that she had wanted the Crawford Omega Constellation but I bought her the Ball (about the opposite in terms of watches) and she is happier with the Ball than the Omega.

Seikos are known as quality watches… Great price vs. quality... I've had one on me mind for two years now... I'm not sure what that tells ya...

Seiko Monsters are well loved in the watch geek community- durable, reasonably accurate, and quite inexpensive for the quality.  And if you want to do any personalization or modification, the parts and providers are virtually endless.

Have no hesitations about buying one, but don't pay full retail; they're readily available through Ebay and other sources for less.  A bit more so if you're willing to buy pre-owned.

I have no snobbery about pre owned watches, so I'll add it to my list of stuff to pick up in the next few months….

                                Thanks guys  🙂

No issues with Seiko either. Bought an Arctura automatic about 7 yrs ago for $300.. On sale from $600 in HK.  Still unscratched face and very accurate.

I love buying on the used market, but some watch freaks get really twitchy about their precious timepiece having someone else's scratches on it.  Personally, I don't have an issue with a couple of scratches on something I'm going to beat up anyway, especially if I can get an extra 20-40% off the price for new.

You said it… My Weil goes for 5-700 € here (that is if you can find the ltd. dial)... Bought (as) new for under 300 $...
