Today, I had my largest Bonefish of the trip thus far.  It was my favourite style of fishing, super skinny water, large single fish cruising and feeding.  Casting has to be pin point accurate without the line or the fly disturbing the surface when it lands.  Any false move and the Bonefish are over the horizon…...Then you have to chase the fish to ensure that the line does not get abraded on the mangrove shoots....I had the camera in my pocket for the first part of this encounter, so join me half way through....

This is a big one, better give chase....

      Nearly done…

Yep, that was worth running around for…

      Holy ghost…

      Bye bye….

At high tide on the Bonefish flats, the Bonefish, which during the tidal ebb and flow, roam the flats in singles, doubles or small pods, tend to group up into large schools of fish.  This is because the water gets deep enough to allow the larger shark to predate on them, they group up as a safety in numbers self defence mechanism.  These schools of fish are often very nervous and they are constantly being harried by Shark and Barracuda.  Having said that they still need to feed and fishing for them is fairly simple.  Get a fly in amongst them and their competitive instinct gets the better of them and they tend to fight for the fly.  It is not the sort of Bonefishing I really enjoy, but at high tide it is about all you can do whilst you wait for the tide to ebb.  This day I was using a bright orange fly that I had tied the night before for a laugh, Phillip was very mocking about it's abilities to catch fish…Luckily, this was a very small fish, had it not been I'd have lost it when the line wrapped round the reel early on in the fight.....

Belting between fishing spots with Phillip is almost as much fun as the actual fishing…..

Went to a wedding yesterday and took my super tiny pocket camera, and found some images I had forgotten I had…

Ben on the bow of the boat approaching my favourite Bonefish "Flat".  The shallow water on the right is what we wade, looking for fish.  As the tide rises the Bonefish move out of the deeper water on the left and onto the "Flat" where they push through to the Mangroves to feed whilst the tide is high...

                          Our favourite restaurant…

                          Ben in deep conversation…

At the airport our computers were jacked by the locals….
