Giles - What about an Iron Heart/ Wesco collaboration? Nothing says stubborn motorcycle wear like an Aero/Iron Heart leather jacket, and a Wesco/ Iron Heart pair of Engineer boots!

My brother-in-law recently got his custom Boss boots with a credit card pocket on the inside. Wish I'd thought of that. Great place to keep some cash for an emergency when traveling.

I am talking to Wesco about that possibility at the moment.  The major issue that needs to be resolved is that Wesco have a sole distributor in Japan and thus even if I and Haraki designed and commissioned them, any sold in Japan would have to go through (for that read, "give money to") the current distributor.  That makes the whole thing far less attractive to Haraki and me….

That makes sense. There's a big market for Wesco boots in Japan, and you wouldn't want to miss out on that business opportunity. However, Iron Heart and Wesco have an international demand separate from Japan that could surely make the collaboration worthwhile, in my humble opinion  😉

If you could work something out with Wesco, what sort of boots did you have in mind?

I had not got as far as specifying models or thinking what they could be.  I have just started the discussions with them to see what the possibilities are….

In general, boots are a bitch to retail.  It is super difficult to get the size/quantity accurate so we get left with odd sizes etc, with Haraki selling too it helps spread the risk of ending up with stuff that does not sell.

Giles, I completely understand what you mean. That does sound difficult.  On another note, do you happen to own any Wescos? I have two pairs, and they're wonderful. I'll have to post some pictures 🙂

These are my custom Boss boots.  I brought walking shoes with me on a trip, and opted to wear these instead as they proved to be far more comfortable for 8 mile a day walking.

And these are my custom lace-to-toe Jobmasters.

Thanks! Standard heel height. I love them. The Boss boots were my very first piece of custom/quality gear. I'm forever changed as I have seen the light/gone to the dark side 🙂

Has anyone tried Wesco's custom fit service? Was it successful?

I've got weird feet (wide at the front, narrow at the heel), so it would be a good option for me. I'm just a bit nervous about getting it right.
