How did you size, Plow? The guy at Woodland's told me to go a half size down from my Alden Truebalance size. I wasn't sure about this recommendation and opted not to order a pair.

I think sizing down is the right idea. On a brannock device I'm just under a size 14US, my feet are pretty narrow however. These are an EE width and everything I read said these fit large so I wound up going with a 13 in these, they are perfect length wise, but just a bit wide still. I think a 14 would have been far too large.

Cot Damn, thank you. If the international shipping isn't too painful, they might have a sale.

Thanks. I'm going to have my foot measured properly today so as that there won't be any sizing mishaps.  😉

Danner seem to have really stepped up their hiking boot game. Loads of new styles up on their website. Super nice, getting tempted again.

just to add fuel to the bitching and moaning mood I am currently in, Danner has the most fucked up sizes available for the Stumptown collection.  Everything is EE width, and their answer to this for those of us who are a D is to size down 1/2 a size.  That didnt work for me.  This sale put them in a more realistic price range though.

Still jonesing for a pair of Danners', currently looking at the Light II. Still a bit unsure on sizing though, the internet's full of conflicting info. Going for D width since places with intl shipping are a bit limited. I wear a US13 in almost everything (Nike, Vans, Viberg). Need a good insole to fit as well and don't mind wearing thick socks.

well, I am a 10D in White's SD last, and the Danners I had were a 10D and were too small.  They were actually too narrow in the toebox.  Im fairly confident a 10.5D would have worked.

let me say this now. danners run narrow. d width, the standard one, does run narrow as space gnome said. But,having said that, if you feel your feet can handle narrow, go for your tried and true size. I got a pair a year+ ago and they are literally the most comfortable boots i own.

Danners recommendation to size down .5 size if you dont wear an EE didnt work for me because the EE width also have a lot more room in the vamp area.  It literally created a sloppy loose fit that I couldnt counter with socks or snug laces.  An insole 'might' have worked, but Im not a fan of having to add shit to get a proper fit.

Just ordered a pair of danner mountain light II to replace my asolo TM35. The Asolo are way to stiff for day hikes, they are outstanding for backpacking though. Hopefully this is a good choice. I have read many good things about danner but, I have always bought Asolo and Lowa for serious hiking.

That is not good news I need something  that's good for 12-15 mile day trips. I don't need another backpacker the Asolo and Lowa are perfect when lugging heavy packs. I thought the danner would be perfect for day trips carrying a lite pack. I hope I am not wrong.

This is driving me crazy, since I really don't want the boots to end up too small but I really hate shoes that are too large and floppy. I measured on one of those printable foot sizing templates that you can get online, and got a US13. However, I'm right on the line or even a couple of millimeters over it with really thin socks so a safer bet would be to go with a 14D, am I right? My foot is neither narrow or wide, I've never encountered any problems regarding width but lots with length.

If it helps (probably doesn't), I wear a Red Wing 875 in a US12 and it's a bit too tight since I'd prefer to use an insole. A 12,5 would be perfect. In my Vans Eras it's a snug but comfortable fit in a US13. Couldn't possibly go any smaller.
