I wouldn't call that roping, fades are vertical…but then I've been wrong more than once.

Looks like roping. Nevertheless, nice fades allover your pants. are you planning to soak it because of mud and dust?
Mine looked pretty bad too, after I had a walk in the mud flat of german ocean Were easy to rub it off after it was dry.

It might depend on the denim. Left to right: 634SR 21/23, 666-VMC 25, 666sod 18.

they may be finished with a regular top stitch at the hem rather than a chain stitch, as cris had them tailored including tapering at the outseam which is evident at the selvedge edge

Gave my RAW's their first wash today.  Took some photos as their were finishing drying.  Color was hard to capture well during the sunset but I love how they look.
