LOL at calling CXL shit.  I can understand how it would not be the best leather for a work boot in a work boot required environment.  How it cant handle a Harley ride is beyond me.  Care to elaborate as to why its not a good casual boot leather?

CXL is my favourite leather of all time, the scratches and scuffs just add character to it.

At the moment I am struggling to decide if I want black CXL SDs or a nice brown cap toe.

The dress leather on my SD's is still in really good condition after a couple of years wear, so the CXL on the oxfords will make a good comparison for me personally. I just hear so much more good things said about CXL than bad, so people must like it for some reason, I must admit though that if I were going for my dream make up Bounty Hunters that I keep threatening to order, it would be Bullhide and Dress Leather all the way.

Could you link me to your review please Ed?

Lots of Aldens floating around in CXL that have been around for extended periods of time.

Would like to order the Baker's Oxford (model # 64OX).

                      http://www.bakershoe.com/search.cfm/product/bakers-oxford/

They have two different oxfords on their site. The oxford linked above has more options in general, but less options for leather. It is limited to combinations of smooth or rough out for chocolate, black, walnut, or red dog. I know what the others look like, but does anybody have any experience with, or pics of, walnut?

I have a pair of clx aldens that I have used daily (or close to daily) for almost a year now. Like them good so far.

It looks like Free&Easy here in Japan combined the options of the two oxfords available on the Baker site for their special order for their Rugged Museum shop in Tokyo.

                          Wild designs below:
                          http://shop.rugged.jp/?mode=cate&cbid=956073&csid=0&sort=n

Some of these have the leather options of the 504 NWC (e.g. chromexcel) and the option to choose different leathers for the upper shaft, vamp and counter as in the OX64. The note at the bottom of the description for the OX64 says that they only have 3 leathers "right now", so I wonder if more leather options are in the works for the OX64.

I think I need to email Kyle.

I think this would be a proper time to say the Edmond, Demonito, etc etc is a character. He has a vast knowledge of denim, boots, and materials used. That being said, he does not have the smoothest delivery.

Time to drop this.  This sounds like dungeons and dragons nerds arguing about who has stronger powers.  Buy the boots you want and dont worry about what other people think, and conversely dont go out of your way to make people feel bad about a purchase theyve made.  Chances are if you're spending over $500 on boots then you have a good idea of what you like.
