These two were from my local booze shop (b-day prezzies). coming in at a cheeky 10.5%, I like to call them "early night" beers…. 😞  very tasty, 'specially with a bit o' cheese….

Seul, I've been sippin' some of that Westmalle too(both the dubbel & tripel, mmmmmm) along with some Vedett extra blond - v.nice and crisp. They have a fantastic range of world beers but alas, non of that triple karma-wotsit

I had an imperial stout of that norwegian beer about a month ago.  It was damn good.

Funny you should mention that one;I had a porter from that brewery a while back.  Not bad, as I recall.

            Not terribly strong, just 7%abv.

Same brewery that makes Fat Tire, right?  Haven't had it, but I'll keep an eye out.  I'm starting to get into sours.

I will be investigating the others over the next few weeks.

About 20 years ago, I had responsibility for some business in Rotterdam.  I sent a very straight laced guy over to do some work. Minutes after he checked in to The Hilton, he hit the bar, almost immediately he was sitting at he bar on a high stool.  Enter "lady of the night" (and believe me, he had no idea), he then did 5 Duvels.  He then decided that he needed to decant, made appropriate apologies to said "partner", stood up, pivoted on his heels and broke his nose when that was the first thing that hit the floor.  He did not get laid that night…...

Nephew of mine crashed my uncle's flat (almost literally) after having done 13 Duvels one night… He had a test/ midterm the next day at school, made it somehow, and even pàssed it...

Just to give you an idea of how my family rolls...

My only experience with Duvel was several years ago on New Year's Eve.  At the time, Julie and I were only dating, and we went to a party hosted by a friend of hers.  I brought a 4 pack of Duvel, drank all four and passed out in a chair.  The next day we went to meet other friends of hers for barbeque lunch.  Julie drove, and about halfway there I made her pull over on the side of the highway so that I could puke out the window of the car.

She was not proud of the impression I made on her friends.

Did you tell her "Houston Houston we have a problem"?..

Man: I would never drink 4 Duvels (wouldn't even drink 1), but I def wouldn't be drunk or sick the day after… Clearly you need a 3 month resort in Belgium to boost your booze stamina...

As I said, that was years ago.  And while I drank more back in those days, I was generally too poor to drink anything good.  Back then, my beer was either Michelob Light (4$ pitchers) or, if I was feeling flush, Yuengling ($2.50 pints).  Nowhere near the quality you down on a daily basis.

Of course, Julie's friends are Texans, so having a hungover, puking, slightly green boyfriend was pretty ordinary…

ST FEUILLIN "Grand Cru". Extra blond degustation beer, 9.5 %, 1.6 €.

Holy cow I'm in heaven… I prefer blond, not too dry beers and this hits all spots... Check the light colour!.. Pic taken without flash, pretty much spot on. No nonsense bottle as well... Good stuff!..

This thread kills me daily when I look at it. You are making me want to take a beer break instead of a lunch break…
