Did you try a rather fatty moisturizer, e.g Neutrogena Handcream? You could also sew a silk or leather hat band to the inside of the cashmere beanie, just where the front is. The back will still stretch enough. At least that way you can keep your head warm. Or do fleece beanies work?

Yeah - I already use the mentioned products (melkfett aka vaseline and super fat facial cream - ) and yes, fleece products work the best…

Giles, I don't know if this topic has been covered – but what's the best way to wash these Wool Meltons ?

I'd go cold or luke warm.  G

Thank God because anything that says "Dry Clean Only" is a clothing item I'd not purchase. I'm too busy in my life to add "Dry Cleaner" on my list to things to do – especially for something I'd wear often.

DrPat, I like the way you're wearing a shirt underneath – using the Wool Melton as a shirt jacket. I don't prefer that on me, I prefer a snugger fit...but it looks cool on you. The most I'll wear under any of my IH tops is a t-shirt or a banyan.

I think the original idea for the Melton was to wear as an overshirt…which is why it's looser than other IH shirts...I also wear my melton over a button down many times

For instance, my Hickory Stripe and my Viyella fit perfectly over a tshirt...the Heavy Flannel and the Melton is considerably looser on me...enough so that I could wear a cashmere hoodie underneath it this weekend. All four are size L

You might want to size down if you're going to wear it as an actual shirt

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

I just looked on the Iron Heart Japan website and the Melton sizing is exactly like the quilted Chambray I already have. I love the way the Quilted Chambray XS fits me, but you're right DougNg – it's a tad looser than the Heavy Black Denim. And they've also stretched out with wear, but I'm still thrilled with them. If the sizing chart on the website is correct, then I believe I'll be happy with the way the XS Melton fits me -- even as a shirt (not a shirt jacket). Giles, do you have any opinions about this ?

The Melton is the same size as all my IH shirts (Medium).  I can easily fit a button-up or thin IH flannel underneath.  The Heavy Ombre and Super Heavy Flannel are a bit more difficult to wear underneath because the cuffs of the Melton are not much wider than the cuffs of either of these.  There is no problem fitting the chest of the heavier shirts underneath.  I also wear the Melton with only a thin long-sleeve t-shirt underneath.

I typically wear the Melton over a T.  It works just fine.  I can wear it over a heavy chambray and that also works.  Before I took delivery of the Meltons, I asked Haraki if I could wear one over a chambray, he said "no they are the same size", he was suprised when in fact, I could

                                            hey everyone!

the melton shirt has become a favorite of mine. it looks great with some 634S's and flipflops. and a beatup old "kum-n-go" mesh trucker. i even like the cut pockets. i couldnt stand the idea, but in reality it keeps me from carrying my iphone and wallet in my shirt pockets so it drapes much better.

anyway, its been awhile since this subject has been broached but…..

i know there was talk of perhaps a run in black, but after seeing it and wearing it, i think black is unnecessary.

what about a melton in any other color? maybe for fall 2010?

                                            red? yellow? baby blue?

HERMES ORANGE? (a light tangerine basically)

                                            you tell me.
