White's Boots

My SD's arrived back from James Taylor and Sons today from their resole. To be honest, I don't know if I'm happy or not. The quality of the workmanship seems to be very good, but it is definitely not the sole I asked for. I might just live with it though. :-\

if its not what you asked for then its not what you asked for and they should rectify that….i like em though.
-
Mega, I think they look good. I prefer a block heel but those are fine. Do you not like how aggressive they look or something?
-
I definitely specified a Vibram composition half sole, or a Vibram mini lug sole, just my taste really. The quality of the workmanship is fine, but it's just not what I wanted. I have emailed James Taylor and Sons to register my disappointment, especially considering their reputation this is a real elementary error on their part. I have suggested that they should either rework them free of charge, or provide a refund to allow me to get the rework done elsewhere. What really pisses me off though is that the full lug sole is exactly the sole I sent them with to be replaced, plus I specified exactly what I wanted, spoke to them on the phone, emailed them pictures, and even sent them hard copies of pictures showing the exact profile I wanted to achieve with the soles I requested. This is turning into a random rant now

The heel wasn't changed Ed, they didn't carry what I wanted so I was planning to have that done separately. Oddly, the heel is the only bit I can't blame them for. The quality of the workmanship is fine to be honest, they didn't stitch the Vibram on, but you'd be hard pushed to find many Rapid E machine in England.

Nah, James Taylor and sons of Marleybone London. I've never heard a bad report about the Denim Doctor.

I have almost that sole on my SJs (100F). It looked cool at the time, but they are somewhat uncomfortable I hardly ever wear them because it's a bit of a pain in the ass to ride a bike with those spikes coming out the bottom.

go back a few pages & look at the boots riff inherited. they are worth a second look & it's a cool little story that goes along with it as well

Aww thanks monday. If you want more detailed pics lemme know.

24 hours later and absolutely no response from James Taylor and Sons, so much for being a reputable cobbler

I know, thankfully I have a full trail of email correspondence including the descriptions and pictures which I sent them, as evidence. I have emailed them again to bluntly say that I am very disappointed that they have chosen not to respond considering the amount of money that they have charged me, and the mistake that they have made. If I hear nothing back tomorrow, of get an unsatisfactory response, I will simply forward my complaint to Trading Standards. Assholes
