I was really worried about this too G.  After messing around with different socks & lacing methods I think they are just right with a thick woolen sock (of which I have many).  I was concerned at first with them actually being too loose but I reckon the fit is spot on.

If still a li'l loose, just buy a decent inlay sole lad… Can't wait for excellent pics... Do wipe off blood and cut off fingers, ey...

Are these as heavy as the IHV-01's?

Exactly how I dealt with these(well the IHV-01 in sz9). I don't even think I could of done the 8.5, as I am usually a 9D on the wider side, the 8.5 would of been too narrow. Just wait a few months until the ankles form, it will take awhile to tame the inner buffalo. Also, something I do as well is fold the excess tongue and lace just the eyelets then wrap around the ankles.

So after wearing these around the house and outside a bit the past day or two I have a few thoughts.

1)  The build quality is tremendous.  This is my first pair of Viberg's and I have to say that they live up to their reputation.  Comparing them to my White's, the Viberg's may have a slight advantage in the construction department.

2)  They do not have quite the pronounced "arch-ease" as my White's but it is still very noticeable and I love this feature on quality boots.  The only area of discomfort is around the ankle but I know with time the boots will mold properly and feel great.

3)  The smell!  The room I left these in overnight now smells like a tiny boot factory.  The water buffalo is really something to behold.

4)  The super-black denim fits in perfectly.  I wasn't totally sure how well this would work but I was surprisingly pleased with its look & feel.

I'm far from an expert on all-things-boots but I know that these are a monster of a pair that will be a welcome companion in all my adventures.
