i don't think it should be on a commitment to buy, i just think it should be on commitment of love and the person's size, for example the khaki would have gone off the chart in the XL sizes which you would have been forewarned about and the users left their emails perhaps you could double firm it up before ordering your numbers.  Here check out this site you can list the questions how you like I use it. http://kissinsights.com/

If it is not a commitment to buy, then everyone has a vote just in case…...

And honestly this is the biggest issue.  I ask for numbers and I get 10 x L and 30 x XL and 5 x XXL indicated as being needed,  so that is what I order.  We get the sizing wrong, which unfortunately does happen (IHSH-46 was a size to small), so I actually get made 5 x M, 30 x L and 5 x XL.  Now I'm in deep shit...

We sample everything and that is normally a pretty good indicator, but it is not fool proof….It does not happen with us, but some jeans makers jean sizing changes drastically between production runs....

Giles- This seems like a situation that you can try to manage but never completely control.  Slight variations in sizing have me between L and XL in IH shirts.  I have (I think) 3 XLs and 2 Larges and I can never be sure until the sizing chart comes out.  For me, this is mostly a shoulder measurement issue.  I probably would have purchased an XL in the khaki version of this shirt, but I bet I would have voted for a Large before knowing the actual sizes.

It is the single biggest conundrum I face.

If I could crack it I would, because if I could perfectly match supply and demand then I would:

                a) Be extremely wealthy
                b) Have a seriously easy life
                c) Do something no one else has ever achieved

For me, the most important measurement is the chest, maybe you could get preorders by chest size instead of tagged size, just a thought…

The point is, we don't know with perfect accuracy what size the production run will be.  If we did, I'd publish sizing ages before they were complete and even take pre-orders.  It does not matter if it is tag size or actual size, if it's wrong it's wrong….

Look at it this way, if the item gets sold out, that creates more "want" I guess you could say. Like for me, I've been searching for a 37 since the day I joined the site, still searching.

In the specific case of the IHSH-56 in Khaki, we had a disaster making them and lost virtually all the large sizes, hence demand was far higher than demand…...

From my experience, I sent in the form with my size and color and G hit me back letting me know the situation on the larger sizes. I was then ready to go, once they went up. I think the form is the best possible way to do it, without G getting fecked.

I'm not stellar at math, but I am pretty good at managing data (it's my day job).  With the assumption/fact that you can't predict accurately what the final size will be, you should have a pretty good history of sales and "pre-orders" at this point to construct some trends.  For instance, when the size is X and the chest width is Y1 and/or arm length is Y2 I sell Z units.  Compare that factor across all the combinations and you might begin to see the ebb and flow.

You might also be able to get a sense of how your products are changing over time and use that as a predictor of what will show up at your doorstep next season.  You're not going to account for what happened with the 56, but you might be able to tell that your XLs are trending smaller than they had in the past.

It actually seems like a pretty fun project…

Then again, if you can figure out why I'm a 31 in everything jeans (except the 666 OD), and apply that to shirts, you've got it made 😃

It's thick and heavy like the chambray, but not as coarse and rigid.  It is somewhat tough, but I think it will soften with washing.

Come to think of it, it's more like poly cotton with out the poly and maybe a tad bit stiffer.  Fit is similar to the chambray, though.

I had huge expectations when reading about this shirt, I mean, I look forward to every new IHSH. Today this one arrived in two colours, ivory and kaki.
                                          How was it?
It was beyond belief. It was unreal. Perfect colours, perfect fit, perfect fabric.
I think the sizing will be no issue to most. I use L in most IHSH and have a few XL. I was immediately sure the L was the right size when trying. It's short, but in a good way, arms do not seem short at all.
