    @DrPat:

    @Giles:

    We tried to make the IHSH-08 Super Black shirt out of 22oz, but could not find a single factory in Japan who could keep consistent quality (the best factory we could find, managed to make one sample that was acceptable), that is why that shirt is made out of 16oz and not 22oz

    What is the difference between the Rider Jacket (also 22oz superblack denim) and the superblack shirt that enabled one to be made and not the other at 22oz?

    Also, I would think 22oz is a bit too thick for a shirt.  Especially a short sleeve shirt.  I couldn't imagine wearing the Rider Jacket on a hot summer day, even if it did have short sleeves.

    Technically I do not know, Haraki was pretty upset we couldn't get it made in 22oz

      G - Do you think the 16oz SuperBlack Short Sleeve Western will happen?

        Agree, 22oz is too thick and stiff for a shirt. That wouldn't be comfortable. Wool ok, but denim no way.

          Yeah I think that has been decided considering the above statements.

            It may, but I think that the first short sleeved shirts we do will be a lttle less radical.

                Personally, I want my short sleeve shirts to be lighter weight as I'm wearing one without sleeves because it's hot out.

                  G, I completely understand this logic. Just get a little excited whenever SuperBlack Denim is discussed! I can picture wearing the 16oz Short Sleeve with a white thermal underneath it for the year round Fog in SF.

                      Iron Heart denim shorts… I wear shorts easily 4 months a year, would love to have a decent denim one to abuse at work/ to chill in during the summer... Lame idea?..

                          Shorts wouldn't interest me AT ALL. Men's shorts would look retarded on me (not short-short enough) plus – Oakland/SF/Berkeley never gets hot enough to justify wearing shorts. But here's what I'd be interested in : A pair of 22-oz cotton duck pants -- similar to the Super Blacks. I don't do sub-21-oz in pants, period. Button-fly preferred but zip would be OK. I remember more than 3 years ago, Derek pulled out a pair of these from the dark annals of Self Edge San Francisco stock...asked me if I wanted them for $100. Don't know if they were 21-oz but they sure looked and felt it. Their style was identical to the Super Blacks, except zip fly. As I remember, those did not resemble today's 16-oz ducks which Giles has on his website. To this day, I regret not snatching those. They were in my size too ! Haraki-San...if you are listening ? I think there would be a big demand for 21-22-oz cotton ducks styled identically to the Super Blacks.

                            Shub's - I believe you are speaking about the Original Cotton Duck Loggers which were Sans-Double Knee. A product no longer made and only owned by Giles and PETEROCK1 from what I can remember. I would love a pair myself as I don't have much need for the double knees…

                              I don't need the double knees either, but they sure help to keep you warm when it's frigid out (-12F right now…it'll be a loggers day).

                                I've got a pair of those, they're 16oz.  G

                                  Are they 16-oz ? OK…I like the style. How come Haraki doesn't do those in 21-oz or 22-oz I wonder ? I can't imagine that it would be much of a stretch for him.

                                    The Double Knee is OK but I'm hung up on the 21-oz. I'm sure that 16-oz probably feels plenty heavy enough but I prefer heavier weight for the money. That's why I don't buy Flathead, Skull or any other brand…I'm addicted to the ultra-heavy-weight pants, and that's why I gravitated to Iron Heart in the first place.

                                      The reason we don't make them at the moment is that we can't even find 16oz Duck that Haraki feels happy with - same reason the Cotton Duck Riders Jacket is no longer made.  When I was last at IHHQ, I saw some samples of some super heavy fabrics which will emarge as jeans later in the year - watch this space…
