    Cool. To start with:

    Shopping:
http://sivletto.com/ Rockabilly clothing and hairdresser. Stocks LVC, Indigofera, Pace, Mister Freedom, IH and such. Malmgårdsvägen 16.

http://www.bluehighwaydenim.com/ Close to Sivletto. Two denim junkie brothers stock obscure brands, display some of their vintage collection and makes one-man in-house jeans.

http://www.118secondlader.se/ Thrift store specializing in leather jackets. Rather pricey, but generally a good selection. A lot for women as well. Odengatan 86.

    Venues:
http://www.debaser.se/ Debaser Slussen (Karl Johans torg), classic rock venue that has expanded to include Debaser Medis (Medborgarplatsen).

http://www.savagemagazine.com/shows/. Garage punk club on a boat (Södra Mälarstrand, kajplats 15).

Great tips Jii! You might like Beyond Retro, Snaekers n Stuff and maybe Granpa too. Oh, and ikea!  😉

If you like ice hockey I recommend attending a bandy match (like a mixture of hockey and fotball, golf swings allowed). Hammarby is the Stockholm team to cheer for.

If you wanna do tourist stuff, take the commuter train one station to Karlberg and take a walk around the old military base/castle - costs nothing, nice scenary and takes like an hour in total. Fotografiska museum is good as well.

och man måste besöka också i Etniska och Tekniska Museét.

If museums interest, both Ethnic and Technic Museums are a must, and they are side by side if I remember correct…

I´ll stay in stockholm gamlastan btw. …so everything around this place is interesting to visit i´d say.
from my last trip to stockholm (only 2 days for the NHL game!) i have in mind that almost everything you want to see/ go to is reachable with a short walk. that´s what i love about the city so much!...

a bit windy, but steady sunshine and overall nice weather. Some open air cafes open. Cold nights though, bring sweater and mittens

Gamlastan is a cool place to stay.

You should have the strömming, I think it's called. It's a little fried and pickled herring on a piece of Knächebröd. Just opposite of Gamlastan at Södermalm at the big place, sold from a trailer like shop.
And if you like icecream, go here: http://www.stikkinikki.com/en/Hem.html
It's also in Södermalm, on the hill when you come from Gamlastan.
And I'd recommend to get this bicycle card: http://www.citybikes.se/en/
Probably makes more sense if you stay at least four, five days. At the tourist info (near the train station) you can buy a card.

And I think you already have a place, otherwise basically all hostels in Gamlastan are nice. I can specifically recommend this: http://www.archipelagohostel.se/
And if you want to stay more in the Södermalm area this is good, too: http://www.skanstulls.se/
It's actually quite close to Unionville. If you are in need, I'd also get a hair cut at the cool rockabilly barber next to Sivletto. Sivletto and Unionville are in parallel streets and there is a little alley between them.

Another cool option is staying on this boat hostel (North part of Södermalm): http://www.theredboat.com/

I'd also recommend to take the boat trip and visit the Vasa museum, where you can see the old big ship of that name.

And if you like coffee, there are some excellent places. I liked these the most:
                    http://www.johanochnystrom.se/index.php
                    http://www.dropcoffee.se/
These two are also in Södermalm, very  close to each other.
                    And: http://www.muggen.se
This is also in Södermalm, close to the icecream place actually.

Have fun. It's really a great city.

Alright lads and lassies… anyone been here recently?

Heading in June for a long weekend and would like a very central hotel.  Preferably a bit under 150£ / 2000 kroner a night, leaning towards a more hipster type place than a chain... Cheers!

i'd recommend staying in a hostel or something like that. you might be in the streets all day long so you actually just need something to sleep in and where they serve a nice breakfast 🙂
can't remember the names of my hostels (been there 3-times), but all in all i can say that everything is in walking distance. get google maps on your smartphone and start walking…stockholm is an awesome city as you might know!

I stayed two times in the Hotel Amaranten. It is a chain Hotel, but lies pretty central and has an awesome breakfast (they clamied back then they had the biggest buffet in scandinavia).

Went to Stockholm a few weeks ago. Beautifull city. Seen a lotta places, done a lotta shopping, with my two daughters. Paid a visit to Sivletto (you  have to search hard for this shop, it´s a bit hidden at the outside of the city)
Nice folks over there! I wanted to visit their other shop Unionville, only to find out it was closed on Mondays (bummer).

In the same area as Sivletto is Grandpa, another  shop with great brand like Grenson boots, Tanner Goods etc.

Will certainly go back one time.

not too much action in this Stockholm thread in a while so I thought I'd see if anyone has any recent suggestions for cafes, restaurants, shops?
Back from Gosport last night and off to Stockholm on Thursday night!

We have some planned already but would love some insights anyone might have!

Looks like Sivletto has closed but I'm happy to see the leather and denim shops mentioned above still going strong.
