You talking about the sole/heel portions?  That's not wood, it's just natural leather with a high polish.  It looks a lot like wood when it hasn't been stained.

Awesome pair of boots! Leather looks nicely broken in too, pictures like this are pushing me ever closer to buying a pair - how do you find them size-wise? I'm a UK10 and reckon that US10.5 would be the right size for SJ's, but possibly even a US10 would fit if they run very large?

US10 in Smoke Jumpers would almost certainly be the ones to go for, maybe even still a little large. I am also a UK10, and these (and my SD's) are US9.5, the fit is perfect for me, but I do have quite narrow feet.

I could wear a US10, and if I were to purchase again, that is the size that I would go for.

Baker's doesn't reply to your email?!I'm shocked! Their customer service is usually so good. I emailed Kyle on his day off, and he CALLED me to discuss my order, on his DAY OFF!

I'm sorry your experience with them wasn't good. Give 'em another chance.

I think they might have given me tan lining instead. Not a big deal though, I don't care much about the liner color.

Whites Red liner leather is more like a tan, I spoke to Kyle at Bakers about it and thats what he told me anyway  :-\

Just recently I have impure thought about straying from White to Viberg, some of the recent pictures I have seen of Whites, like Jestres, have pulled me back into the Whites way of thinking…..my love is still strong
