Snap Upgrades

Finally decided it was time to try my hand at the pimp game…
I never 100% loved the snaps on my IHSH-09, so I figured that would be a great first trick to turn out.

I borrowed a couple of tools from a seamstress friend that helped (me at least):

This tool was great for getting the snap backs off in a single squeeze:

And the really cool part is she let me borrow this vintage little tool that's used for putting on snaps, eyelits, studs and such:

Here it is (note the snap laying in a little groove, prongs up:

The female end of the snap fits snuggly to a little post on the end of this rod:

The contraption goes like this:

So you basically stick the new button on, slide it between the two pieces, give it a whack or two wth a hammer and viola!  (Probably dont totally need it, but I like that it applies an equal and uniform amount of force to the snap while being hammered and keeps everything in place):

And now I'm all blinged out:

Honestly, it was pretty easy and kind of a fun project (and it looks really cool) that really opens up a new world of possibilities…

While everybody is so stoked about MOPs I find square buttons more appealing on some shirts. ie. TW sample would have been killer IMO if it had square buttons.
