I believe these will do what they are supposed to do. I have a pair of Thorogoods, and they are comfy as hell and sizing IMO is TTS.

I had these in size 9D US because I got them for like $40 on ebay new. Should of got 9E US.
They were a tad tight in the width because I have a wider foot. Just sold them on eBay because the quality wasn't great with my pair. I wanted the roofers but I didn't want to pay retail and I think they run larger.

Alden Indys 8.5E (can wear an 8.5D but its tight or a 9D but its a tad long)
Dr. Marten Ormonds 10 US (they are tight on the top of my foot and too narrow, and I believe I bought because I saw you wearing them on here, can't say I love the fit)
Viberg 8.5E(if there are no wide options have to upsize a half)

So, there you go. That's my experience.
