But if your jeans get smelly every month, you might consider moving to a colder area... Or shower more regularly

yup, pretty much how SR's are supposed to fit…

now go get some proper boots....engineers or "biker" harness boots. They'll take most of the slack off knee down.

they're loose straight cut. They're not widening towards shoes… 

I have to admit that SR cut is just on the edge for me also, a tad wider and I would get rid of mine.
