I'm sending my nice new Fidelity by Gerald & Stewart Peacoat (US Navy issue) back because the stitching is crap. The lining in one of the pockets has started to go and one of the main buttons is coming undone. I could have them repaired, but I've only had the coat two weeks so it's a fail in my book.

Any advice on a suitable alternate? I hear the Schott NYC version is ok, but I've never had anything of theirs.

The proper Schott peacoats are great, but there are lots of versions. The most commonly available version in Europe is made from wool/ viscose, and is not very nice at all as it is very itchy and feels cheap. The US made version is great, 100% wool, quite soft, and very warm, if you can find one reasonably priced then they are certainly worth a purchase.

One word of warning, they size MASSIVE, check measurements before you buy closely.

      This is the good version….

Don't know much about peacoats myself but there is loads of info about then over on http://www.thefedoralounge.com/forum.php
There's even a chap there called peacoat who seems very knowledgeable.

Cheers! This is really useful, I might try the 'good' one. Very unhappy with the original one I bought, which is a shame, as it seems fantastic apart from the pocket/button stitching issues.

              @Beatle:

wondering if it's worth starting a  thread for the IH-7526J - basically blanket lined jeans jacket with front pockets..

so many gems seem to not make it out the gate  😠

& why never any conversation on SOPHNET, them seem to make some really great stuff  bit on the expensive side, but dope none the less

That's the best jacket I've seen here. Just a sample? No production?

Sophnet….man, thats a blast from the past. I used to have a Sophnet x Nike FCRB knitted sweat. Great quality, but ridiculously expensive.

The Internationalist sneakers that Nike did with Sophnet were amazing, and now impossible to get.

Me and mý family has been invited to visit somebody we have never met on Christmas Day in Miami US.

That did make it out of the gate, we sold it about 4 years ago.  No plans for  re-issue…..

super sad. great jacket (and with pockets.. so there have been years where either the jeans had none or where people thought that jackets need pockets as well.) must have been a great time >_> hahah

Does the 21 % VAT tax get deducted if one 'orders from Switserland'/ shipping address is Swiss?..

Curious as to what you guys think.

I've just received their 1.5" Tow belt, in coffee brown, which is built like a tank. I'll do a review soon, but if you're buying one, look carefully at the belt sizing instructions. They run big, by about two inches, which combined with the hole spacing seems to mean if you want true to size, go one down. That's just my opinion, based on my 38" fitting like a 40". Great belt though.
