Red Wing Shoes

Very nice finn.. I have the similar pair, but I destroyed the crepe sole in about 6 months of daily wear..
I'm going to bring them for resole this afternoon, and should be going with the vibram commando soles.
What u think guys?
hahaha… one page back i've posted the same pic since i'm also thinking about resoling these with the vibram sole.
allready contacted the red wing store... -
Is RW Crepe sole same as Vibram Crepe sole? *cause I have a vague memory that they are not, and vibram sole doesn't wear so fast. Commando soles tend to gather small stones, dogshit etc, which isn't nice…
just my 2 cents worth
Not totally the same…well at least when it comes to the looks (dunno about the different compositions thought!)
vibram:
and you're right about the dogshit part on the commando soles, but when it comes to having grip on icey undergrounds and on snow, they're way better than the crepe soles…that's why i'm thinking of the resole.
and since the yuketen i bought also come with a crepe sole, i thought it would be nice if my rw's would go commando -
Haha didn't know that we not only rock the same stuff, we got the same taste for soles haha.
I just send mine for resole at a local cobbler.. For sgd95, and ready in 2 days…
will he resole them with the vibram sole or just regular commando soles?…

I've found that the RW sole is quite a bit softer. Its nice because it absorbs a lot of the impact of walking on concrete, (great for the back and legs) but it does wear out pretty fast. For me (and many others) the heel wears fastest, so I have my cobbler cut in these inserts that are a lot more durable (he says it's like a Cat's Paw), and it adds quite a bit of life between resoles…

Finn, Ronald- looking forward to seeing your resoled boots and hearing your thoughts on the differences between the two materials.
