 You can't tell which one it is by looks. You gotta find out the numbers from the motor block. Get those, and I'll tell ya what it is.If my memory serves me right 1953 didn't have a key, just a switch you rotated in the headlamp. So, if you mean ign/light switch, just replace that with correct one. This might be interest to you

That's great IJ, thanks for the link! I'm pretty sure it's a 1953 as I remember her uncle told me it was back 
 in Oct. when I saw him last. I'll be able to get you the numbers from the motor block as soon as I can
 get a look at it in the daylight. I sure hope it doesn't need a key, would make things a lot easier!Thanks for all your help and expertise!

Brgrkng may I suggest mid controls on that shovel… No mids for me. Been riding that hard 3 years and the reach is perfect for my legs and I still have room under my thigh to jockey shift fast when needed. madmonday - Bad thing is that's not even half of them. If I could figure out how to stop buying bikes I'd probably have one of each of those too, lol.
