From Element? Their cases are anodized…anodized aluminum doesn't chip, it wears through, like denim fading. Is it possible he got a diff brand or a knock off?

Some models are powder coated/painted. In the above description, those have a gloss powder coat.

The one my bro bought is http://www.elementcase.com/Vapor-Pro-White-Edition-iPhone-Case-p/api4-1113-w3ww.htm

I guess this one is "acrylic paint." Powder coat would be better than typical acrylic (maybe they updated the process), but the anodized ones are still the best.

Bro sent that one back and upgraded to a spectra. I'm rocking the chroma on mine.

We've been buying directly from element. They take forever to respond to any sort of correspondence (like a week), but I generally prefer to buy from the source whenever possible.

Anyone got the Macbook Air? I'd be really interested to hear opinions/reviews of the 11" and 13" models. In particular, how good they are for day/overnight trips and whole weeks away from home.

As do I, however, I haven't had any issues dealing with Tekcases. Emails are responded to the same day (sometimes within a few minutes)

They even took back the carbon fiber backplates I used already because it interfered with reception

Cool. I thought it might be a good work option if the new folks are Mac friendly. I'll only be out a few days a week most of the time, and can use my desktop when at home for most things.

I must experiment with iCloud, I've already got a mobile me account, I just haven't looked into it yet. I'll probably end up getting stuck with a Dell or Thinkpad, based on previous jobs. Now all I have to do is decide which job to take…

On the plus side, whatever their IT preferences, they're all denim friendly dress-code wise!

I used the same IBM Thinkpad for 6 years at work, until it finally died (I killed a hard drive, but they 'fixed' it), then they replaced it with the cheapest Lenovo Thinkpad there was. It was unlovely, to say the least, and weighed a ton. I'm hoping I can go mac at the new place, but I'm preparing myself for the worst!

Bootcamping Windows onto the mac is always an option. Although on the Air you'd probably have to live with a smallish partition.

Hm, I would settle for lightroom-ish capacity, simple curve, sharpening and local edits 😛

I've only got PS Express, which lets you crop, resize, sharpen, play with focus etc, as well as add some very basic effects. It's all very simple though, and very basic. Not sure about curve altering, I think the crop tool is just right angles.

The new MacBook Air is excellent and has a very good value for money. If Apple will continue to develop that project with more firepower, will be my next laptop.

I've got all those too and agree about the Air. Finally decided against the Air though and went for the iPad. I travel 3-10 times a month and had a 17in Macbook Pro, which sucked to travel with. Sold it a few months ago and downsized to the new 15in. Still too big for a plane ride in my opinion. So, hopefully the iPad will be a happen medium. I wish I could just use it for work but I need a quad-core for that.

Can't wait to see what they do with the Air over the next few years.

I got the iPhone 4S last week, finally upgrading my very tired 3G. It's cool, but beware if you're restoring from the 3G backup - it monkeys around with Facetime in a really annoying way and loses the App icon.

No work laptop for me, I can remote desktop into work on my home machine and I have a standard desktop PC there. Now I need another excuse for the Macbook Air…
