Tagged Size vs. Actual Size (Sizing Questions & Advice)

i disagree with this statement. when i buy jeans i want them to fit me the way i want in the long run, not right off the rack. if you have an active lifestyle and wear your jeans ALOT then they are going to stretch, and mine have always stretched out to be too big and there was nothing i could do to get them back to the original fit. whenever i size down on pants that i know will stretch, then the waist always ends up being exactly how i want it to fit and it STAYS that way. the key is checking all of the other measurements and making sure they are to your liking because the rise, leg opening, and thigh aren't going to change much. if you can be uncomfortable for a few hours and get the exact fit you want that is going to keep fitting the way you want, then sizing down is the way to go 100%. check fit pics i've posted for reference if you like.

riff, I can also understand this, and I've seen your fitpics.
This ofcourse depends on everybodys measurements and bodytype. I for example couldn't have sized down on my 634s due to my meaty arse and thighs. Waist hasn't stretched much. And like you said, the key is to check EVERY measurement. I still thinks clothes (in general) aren't supposed to be "stretch-to-fit" (and on a second thought I think I was trying to speak about sizing down to achieve skinny fit on straight cut jeans)But as I have said before, to each their own.

your truth isn't same as mine.

your truth isn't same as mine.
You're all aware that "truth" from a social constructivistic viewpoint is a construction, relative to the context in which is perceived, right? Verum ipsum factum, shoppers.
Unless you believe in external realities, transcending everything, my hair is a bird. As long as you believe it's true.

buy your jeans and wear em however you want. thats what i think. there is no right or wrong, this is just what works for me. with skateboarding, bicycling, hiking, playing shows and completely sweating through my jeans regularly i always stretch them out too much when i buy tts and i dont want to machine wash/dry them to hopefully shrink them back. if i stretch em for a day or two they are usually exactly what i want and they stay that way. the 634s have the perfect dimensions for me personally when i do it this way. if sizing down doesnt work for you or your body type then you shouldn't do it. i've found that IH jeans stretch a good bit in the waist especially for myself as i really do not go easy on these jeans. i don't really wear my jeans on high on my waist either so that may have something to do with it as well. injunjack is a good example of the other school of thought here and it works well for him. btw…the fit pics comment wasnt directed at injunjack, it was for people who had questions regarding stretch.

I'm too cool for school… In my experience if you but jeans TTS they will not stretch drastically even if you do manual labour in them all week for a year (see my SEXIH07bks); not even if you play in Converge... If you size down on a pair of 634S'es they will however fit brilliantly after 1-2 weeks of wear if you abuse them... But after the initial stretching, they will measure about the same after a year (unless you gain weight of course)...

Monday is right. I did buy the 301 tts and in 2 days it was too big though. Skateboarding does that.
-
I guess I follow your train of thinking then, Nate… I did size down 1 on my 634s'es because I knew they'd stretch after some heavy duty wear... Skateboarding and playing in a frantic band like Converge will have the same effect!.. But on the other hand, there's always a limit to stretching... So when they fit, they won't stretch anymore... Not a lot more, anyway...

Hey there everyone. Ever wonder how someone else sized on a item, what someones measurements are, or weather or not you should size down until your nuts are squashed into oblivion? Well then, this thread is a perfect place for you and those pesky questions that you may feel the need to ask. Enjoy it in here!

Just an observation but it seems to me that a good majority of sizing mishaps around here have more to do with the buyer than the garment. If your body size, shape, form consistently fluctuate then most likely you are the one with changing sizes not IH.

Couple of IH garments that are not true to tagged size:
- IHXB01 (waist is 1-1.5" smaller than tagged size)
- IHSH-08(SS) (runs half a size smaller)
- IHW-01 (runs half a size smaller)
- IH-9527J (runs half to a full size smaller)
Maybe this is helpful, maybe it adds to the confusion… Anyhow: all tested by me, and that's what I experienced...

Thank you for you additions Seul! This is definitely the place for any and all questions and answers, or confusion regarding sizing. Cheers

Would be nice to have all and every sizing question in here… Would speeden up the process of any of us answering, and would stop cluttering the threads...
I'd say 'sticky' it/ a link in every IH subsection (shirting/ bottoms/...)?..
Of course: actually reàding the threads might also help in most cases…

Seul, now you are catching on. Wish people would have been using this all along. Tell you what, when I come upon sizing questions that have been asked and answered I will quote them and throw them in here. I will even throw up the ones that have not been answered. Just hope people have figured out how to quote properly so this doesn't turn into a waste site. As for reading through threads, yeah that would help EVERYONE!
