@Anesthetist where do you live? Our work has been scoping who'd want the vaccine soon. It's pretty split. Public Health data here in the UK is soo mixed. What PH say pubically, and what they say in closed door meetings… Well.

I’m in St Louis, MO (Midwest US). I have no idea what the plan is for the public here but I was fortunate enough to get my dose due to my job being high risk. My family is looking forward to getting their vaccines as well but no one knows when that will be. I really hope it will be soon though.
As for the surrounding areas, I have read that 20-30% of folks here say they wont take the vaccine….but who knows what will happen once the shots arrive in full.
Side effects have been minimal for myself and my colleagues. My arm was really sore and I felt pretty achey yesterday, but I’m back 100% today. One woman I work with had a 101* fever along with bad body aches but it only lasted 36 hours. The next round is supposed to be a little more painful, we’ll see in 3 weeks.

We got a 300€ bonus and an extra week worth of holidays as a thank you for working throughout the first Covid-19 wave… Now we're getting a 500€ bonus for working throughout the 2nd, and what appears to be a developing 3rd, wave... It kinda feels... wrong... I mean: we are "essential" personnel, so we had to (read: were privileged to) keep working... Sure: March and April were hell... The bonuses were welcomed, it was nice... But the 2nd bonus is not for folk working in non-essential shops... Whilst they were shut down twice, unable to receive a full paycheck...
Worst thing is: we were given the bonus in coupons... Two kinds: 5€ off with a spent 25€, 10 for 50... Cue the folk saying it was an outrage that we had to spend the coupons in our own stores... Cue the trade unions making a fuss about it... I don't get that kind of ingratitude... I bought about 600€ worth of coupons from collegues because they said they wouldn't know how to spend it... I've been buying loads of good booze at huge discounts because of it...
Anyway, tl;dr... Second bonus feels undeserved. People are selfish pricks. More at '11.

@Seul it isnt surprising just how huge the gap between those who have suffered during any of the waves of covid, and those for whom it has been a boon time. I would agree with you re the reward vouchers received by you and your colleagues. A. Your employer wasn't obligated to do anything b. Your fellow employers will be able to obtain groceries that they might not otherwise have afforded, c. Hopefully it keeps businesses and the supply chain going, reducing potential waste.
I predicted a perfect storm in the UK at the end of December. A 2nd (true 2nd wave of covid) on top of usual winter pressures for the NHS and us in social care (though unusually the influenza numbers are significantly down… Being misdiagnosed as covid by the 1 hr tests - Public Health England won't put that in their press releases though).
That topped with Brexit and France closing its boarders to ALL road and rail travel this morning means even more people suffering.
A bit of EU posturing ahead of 31st Dec I suspect. Agree our deal or you can expect more of this.
We'll make it through, definitely.

@FormulaPfaff and my UHR are within the same magnificent metroplex and have been here for many moons now. I reckon there has never been so much fantastically faded UHR within such a small space ever in existence. The gravity waves that have been created cannot be denied even though the technology does not yet exist to image such a rare phenomenon. Crazy times
