      Thanks a lot Davito.

TBH I'm a bit scared of IH 34's these days.  34 busters were too tight in the thigh and waist.  34 634s are also a bit tight in the waist to be comfortable long term.

Maybe ill try the 34 666s and return (pre soak) if they are not gonna work. Better that than them being too big.. Maybe.

      Thanks again buddy.

no problem, yeah they are slim but when you are used to slim fits then this is the way to go imho

34 busters are more 33 in waist and depending what you do they do not stretch that much and usually shrink a lil bit after a wash, which may give you an unpleasant feeling.
so you could have a "problem" in the indigo devils 34 because of the thighs if you are not used to snug fits even when the waist would be OK. remember 18oz is harder to stretch imo.

this is a beautiful jeans so you might try and when not happy return  😃

or you go with 36 indigo busters having a bit higher rise and snuggier shape overall than your 634 but still comfy, cant go wrong with the signature 21oz but not the same as 18oz unsanforized 😉  🙂

        Cheers,
        David

I received my IH-666S - The Devil's Fit Indigo jeans in 31"X36" and they fit perfectly in the waist (comfortably snug with just a bit of breathing room). The IH site says that these unsanforized jeans will shrink approx. 1" after the first soak but will stretch out to the pre-soak size with wear. That said, should I soak my jeans very hot and deal with the uncomfortable snugness while they stretch back out to the pre-soak size, or should I soak warm and then soak again if needed? In any event, should I soak for 1 hour, then pat dry between two towels, then air dry? These are my first pair of unsanforized jeans, and I want to make sure I don't screw things up!

Perhaps these images will offer some insight.

I suggest soak hot tap water and get the shrinkage out of the way - and, in your pics, they don't look so tight to me that you will have any issue, really.  I find that my devils are a bit snug after a wash, then stretch back to "normal" after 1-2 wears.  Bottom line, there is a certain amount of shrinkage you will get with these jeans, and you may as well get it over with.  Just my opinion.

Did the hot soak (with water as hot as my tub faucet would go) for 1 hour. The jeans then air died flat on a towel. After trying them on, the shrinkage was surprisingly minimal. Now they're just a bit more snug in the waist. I was actually hoping for a bit more shrinkage in the length, but whatever. A 1-2" cuff should look great.

Thanks again for the tips everyone!

They will shrink a little more when you get to the point of machine washing them in the coming weeks/months.

I totally understand, if you've had raw denim in other brands it can make you wary… but as you see this denim does not shrink as much as you might think...

If I did want to get a bit more shrinkage out of the length, might another hot soak do the trick? Perhaps adding some boiling kettle water to the tub, as others have done??? I could wear these jeans as is, but I still have an inch or two more I'd like to shrink off the length. The waist is fine, but I could deal with a bit more shrinkage here if I had to.

                                        Thanks for the sound advice.

By washing (when I eventually do wash), do you mean machine wash? Cold, warm or hot? With detergent or without? Obviously, I will hang dry.

Sorry for all the questions. I was assuming these jeans would come with some tips for care procedures, but that was not the case. You guys on the forum have have been terrific resources however. Many thanks for helping out this newbie.

All of my jeans, sanforized or not, get treated the same way.  Upon arrival, turn inside out, wash in the machine, gentle cycle, light detergent.  Hang dry.  When needed, which is about every 4-6 weeks for me (I'm a sweaty man and I live in a hot and humid climate), repeat.  They're denim, not silk.  Don't overthink it.
