BTW fellas, how do you wash your jean jackets in the washing machine - buttoned or unbuttoned?

@catdad1 @ work I wear all my denim (jeans/jackets/shirts) underneath coverall to prevent/avoid critical damage, as shipbuilding industry has quite tough working inviroment - metall all around, paint, welding etc.

@meatmarketdenim1 honestly do not understand people who try to wear jean jacket as a coat, with hundreds layers underneath. Jean jacket is a jean jacket and should be worn as such. All above imho of course

Fit check before wet soak please. Do I have some room for shrinkage?
IMHO you surely do. From my point of view you have no choice but to shrink it a bit, cause it looks quite not your best fit right now (sleeves & shoulders). Simply soak/wash it in a lukewarm water, without fanaticism though and I'm pretty sure it'll fit you like a glove

@WhiskeySandwich Actually I never count wears, but we can do a rough calculation ~ 24 weeks x 5 days x 8 hrs @ work + some hiking on the weekends

@Ikeaparty I personally don't see anything that's worth your worries at all. Denim jacket unlike condom is not meant to follow your body's curves the way above mentioned should. The shoulder will settle with wear like all denim does and the fit will be ideal. If I was in your shoes I wouldn't torture the jacket and wear it as is.

@worn2fade Judging by the look this jacket won't ever be snuggy on you no matter what. Even if you boil it for hours. It's simply not your size. Size down a size and it will fit you the way it should.

RE: IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo
Dear denim brothers and sisters, I was pleased to see a lively discussion about the fit of this wonderful jacket from IH. Here is my humble opinion on the matter. Let me start by saying that playing with raw denim is always a gambling - no manufacturer can give you guaranteed results, it is always your own experiment. Another question is in what capacity are you going to use this jacket - if as a coat, of course you need a size up. If as a denim jacket, all you can wear under it is a shirt or a T-shirt. I don't see much point in shamanic dancing with a tambourine around the wrong size and in boiling the unfortunate jacket in boiling water. Just take your size, but that's another story. I'll tell you mine.
In the case of one washed denim, I'm quite happy with IH size L, but the thing is that raw denim L after soaking/washing does not exactly fit the L of one washed denim. It's somewhere in the middle, i.e. slightly larger than one washed L size. That's why I decided to take the M size as the closest to the L size one washed. The only measurement where I risk is the chest (P-2-P), but even if there is a little more shrinkage than I expect, I asked myself - how often do I wear a denim jacket buttoned up to all the buttons? Not often, extremely not often. This is my approach to the size of this jacket. You can, of course, have your own. -
RE: IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo
@FlavourFade Actually I've not decided yet, just thinking abt it. On the jacket fade shift should be not as brutal as on jeans due to the obvious difference in the nature of fade origin jacket vs jeans - honeycombs may shift but it only can be seen at the back of the sleeves by elbow marks if they are noticeable, the pockets, the collar etc. will remain the same. Jeans is another story - knees, whiskers fade shift will be quite noticeable

RE: IH-526L - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo
@FlavourFade I consider that fade shift is hugely exaggerated concern - your raw denim jacket/jeans must shrink twofold to make fade shift noticable. Nevertheless, appreciate your opinion.

Does anybody wear the jacket without presoak/prewash?
That's what I'm thinking about
