      Shoot.  Came here on word of a 555-XHS equivalent, but it looks like I'm right about in the middle between the size 28 and 29…stupid hourglass figure.  (I really DID nail the sizing on the 555-BLK...)

      Got a size 28 with a slightly larger waist?  PM me if so!

      Is there a reason IH doesn't have anything in the way of garments made from sashiko fabric?

      I've been curious about it for a while now; I'm guessing that it's primarily because a sashiko item up to IH standards would be prohibitively expensive?  I'd figure a heavy sashiko shirt would sell like hotcakes here.

      @Giles:

      It does not.  It is sanforised but that is the only post weave process it has been through…...

      So then these aren't given the same "slow fade" treatment that the other 21oz. have; good to know.

      On another note, can anyone vouch for how much shrinking come out of the thighs on these when soaked/washed?  Looks like a trigger pull for me if I can nail the sizing.

      The IHTB-07 is the same weight fabric as the other sweaters, I take it?  Definitely eye-catching; looking forward to seeing what comes out of those.

      I guess now's as good a time as ever to see if those 777Ns are the right fit for me…call it a very early birthday present.

      Good stuff!

      Rats.  I hate to be that guy, but…I think the size 28 would be perfect in pretty much every way except the waist.  28 tag is the only one with skinny enough thighs...but then again, that would depend on how much these would stretch.

      Any chance you have a pair of 28s with a waist in the 29-29.5 inch range?  If so, PM me...I may be interested to find out what it's like to bleed indigo from the knees.

      EDIT: FWIW, I'd need them to stretch out to 30-30.5 in the waist for an ideal fit.

      @Anesthetist:

      I would never steer anyone away from IronHeart, but you sound like you could be a model for FlatHead.

      The way I see it, any brand that has the Giles stamp of approval is worth checking out, so maybe I will.

      On that note, even if they aren't in my size, the loopwheels in the gray fabric look amazing.  I wonder who in here would take a long-sleeve/henley from fabric like that…

      (EDIT:  I know there are gray henleys/thermals, but not quite the same gray color.)

    • RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?

      @xtcclassic:

      My only concern with the IH t's I've tried is they are much too bulky and not really a "fitted" fit, especially in the sleeves. I'm fine with the 6.5oz part, although I'd be fine with lighter weight as well (I never thought I'd be all that interested in a 14oz denim from Iron Heart but I'm LOVING my new 14oz 666's). But to function as an undershirt, it should be more of a slim, fitted cut, especially in the sleeves.

      Seconding this.

      I'm aware that as a really skinny build, I'm in the minority of IH wearers, but this is a consistent issue I've had with looking at pretty much any IH shirting–I have slightly broad shoulders for my size, but otherwise need a pretty severe taper from the shoulders down to properly fit just about anything (only "shirting" I own is the IHTB-01 and even that needed a tuck-in from the pits down so I don't give off that shirt-mannequin appearance).

      On the bright side, the shirting money can go towards another pair of jeans--it's all in how you view it, I guess.  😉

      Cont'd (now with added IHTB-01 goodness–it's been tapered some):

      So I'm thinking, for my frame, a 777 would probably be the next best thing…in which case I'll be saving for the aforementioned 25 oz.  Low-rise jeans scare me, but screw it; if I have to send a few back to get a good fit, then so be it.  I'd have taken a Devil's Fit by now, but everything past the thighs is too wide to fit me properly.  C'est la vie.

    • RE: IH-555S-BLK - 21oz Black Selvedge Slim

      So after 4-and-a-half months of wear, I figure it's time for some pics and retrospectives.

      To give some background:  I'm a not-that-tall, terribly skinny guy (we're talking 5'7", 125 lbs. since high school) who's had issues finding clothes that, for lack of a better term, don't fit me like a pair of clown trousers.  The only other thing I have that's remotely close is a pair of Levi's 511s (skinny with stretch fabric), which I have kept closely dear because dammit, I don't see too many clothes that fit me ideally.

      So I've tried to re-do my wardrobe as of the last year-and-a-half or so, and I've still continued having trouble with other clothes, but especially jeans.  Quality jeans, that is; none of this pajamas-with-rivets nonsense I've had to deal with.  Thing is, I also like heavy clothes…which aren't usually built for skinny people.  (Especially Iron Hearts.  😛  So many beefcakes in the fit pics.)  Anyways, after a few pairs of jeans that were dud fits, I learned my lesson and did my research, taking painstaking care on measurements, until I found something that would be close enough to a fit to take a shot--the 555-BLKs.  Now, I'm not exactly a big person, but I always liked a bit of rise on my jeans.  I may have to put a more open mind on that soon enough.

      These are pics after 4-and-a-half months of wear--fit pics to follow:

      I also noticed about a week ago that the buttons have started "fading," if you will.  Love it.  X3

      Me want honeycombs.

      So all in all–love 'em; I understand what the Iron Heart rave is all about.  Things I wasn't crazy about--these pants have stretched a bit in the top block (any more and I might well have a case of diaper butt going on), and the knees have bagged some, but aside from that they've been wonderful all the same.  In hindsight, I probably could have gotten away with sizing down 1 more for a 27, but hey...it's all a learning process.

      I'll post some fit pics in a bit to get some input on what's next--my clothing budget ain't exactly huge, but I'm a fan of saving if it means I can use it for something I really want.

      On another note:
      @Giles:

      We're doing the 777 in 25oz…....

      If the size is right, then the price is right!

      Those indigo corduroy shirts are stunning.  I love cords, I love indigo…yep.

      Too bad I'd probably have to get those tailored to fit me.  :<

    • RE: Houston, TX (USA)

      I see that this board on the whole is pretty quiet, so let's liven it up a bit, eh?

      Despite the city being a giant parking lot, it's not entirely without its high points.  In my case, I live in the 'burbs waaaaaaay outside of anything interesting infrastructure-wise, so I had to start looking myself.  (Hey, if I don't do it, ain't nobody gonna do it for me.)

      In recent years, the areas near downtown have been re-gentrified by "hipster" sorts (I hate that word, but I don't really know a more succinct way of describing them).  Incidentally or otherwise, a not-insignificant chunk of this crowd is also into cycles (both "motor" and "bike"), so this city is a hotbed for bikes.  Some of that has bled over into clothing, so we've had a bit of an uptake on vintage clothing/etc. recently.

      Notable stores on that front include:

      • Reserve Supply Co. – Levi's Vintage, Railcar Fine Goods, Tellason, some motorcycle stuff as well; I know the owners are big on Barbour jackets.

      • The Class Room – some stuff to be found here, though primarily a storefront for 3sixteen and N&F.

      • Manready Mercantile – if you have to pick one "vintage" clothing store in H-town, this is it; the owner is also one of the gents from Knickerbocker Mfg Co, and he's got no shortage of stories to tell.  Even better, if you ask nicely, you can get a freebie cocktail from their mini-bar while you browse and peruse the shelves, which you'll want to do since there's a lot of old stuff that's not listed on the website.  I've found no shortage of old military flight jackets and even a few kimonos here.

      • Rye 51 – this one is geared more towards dressy clothes.  Will also offer cocktails while you visit.

        There's no shortage of small-time coffee operations–if you're into microlot coffee, we have two notable roasters here:

        • Java Pura: (no link b/c their website is down at the time of writing) – some good microlots (including Gesha), but my favorite offering is their barrel-aged coffee beans.  Comes in cabernet, sauvignon blanc, or Saint Arnold's Bishop's Barrel varieties.  Very interesting stuff.

        • Amaya Roasting – highly recommended, though their offerings change frequently.

        And I couldn't even begin to list the "indie" coffee shops (not that I'm complaining, mind).

        But wait, there's more – there's plenty of microbreweries here as well.  I'll let BeerAdvocate do the talking for me, because I'd be here all day if I had to do a detailed list:
        https://www.beeradvocate.com/place/city/65/
        NB: many of the micros here are very hop-forward, as they all sprouted up during the "hop all the things" renaissance of late.

        There's more, but my larger point is:  if anyone ever happens through here, feel free to give me a shout!  There's fun to be had.

        EDIT: formatting; added Rye 51

      My condolences; I can only imagine how hard it must be to lose family over this.

      Back when I was in Scouting, our troop lost one to cancer as well.  You never forget them, but you keep going.

      Since I'm eyeballing one of the IHTB-06's, I have another question:

      Is the shoulder measurement on shirts and sweaters taken in identical manner to the button-downs and jackets (shoulder stitching –> bottom of collar seam at mid-point --> other shoulder stitching)?

      At least 2 months later, and wow.  All I can say is: not only did I nail the fit, but y'all nailed the jeans.  Consider me IH fam from here on out.

      May post pics later…I only wish you guys had plans to do the 25's in this fit, but I'll deal.

      Here's a fit pic for one of the last few tag 28's (NB–the waist actually measured 29.8 on this pair):

      EDIT: deleted fit pics

      Pretty excited, since this is my first pair of IH (hopefully not the last!)  Obviously they need a hemming, but I think I came about as close to nailing the fit as possible!  😉

      Urban Texan here.  I've lurked on-and-off for a little while, perusing all the individual item sub-sections on the forum, but as I (for the moment) now own a pair of IH jeans, that may well change!

      Just got into raw denim a little while ago–got sick of all the ill-fitting items in my wardrobe and I'm working on better-fitting, longer-lasting items--and I had heard nothing but good things about IH gear.  (I'm very much a stickler for the "buy cheap, pay twice" saying...)
