RE: IHW-05 - 32oz Melton Wool Pea Coat
When I get home I am going to measure an old jacket and compare with the sizing table. But still, I like to hear what those who alreday have this peacoat think. I am 5,7 (175 cm) tall and have a 38" chest. Should I go for small og medium? I like a fitted/slim look, but I need room for a thick sweater. Any recommendations?

RE: Your current jeans rotation
60 % of the time: 666 XHS. It is supposed to be summer here in Oslo, but I have no problems wearing theese most of the days (not sure if i should insert a smiley- or frowny face here).
The rest of the time is divided between IH B01, 3 Sixteen SL 100X and Nudie Grimm Tim. Plus Levis X Nike 511 Rigid for skateboarding.

Norwegian I think
Yeah, Norwegian. Swims started out making modern galoshes and now they have mixed galoshes with shoes, hence the look.

Not sure whether i should post my pictures here or in the standing denim thread, but here I go. After about two moths I decided to wash my 666. A contributing factor was that I have started to bicycle to work (sweaty, smelly groin). I did not expect that they would stand up on their own after a wash.

So far I am very happy with my 666 XHS. They now feel very comfortable and have broken in nicely. No great fading to speak of as of yet, but I really did not expect that after only two months. In hindsight i should have ordered 1 size smaller, but that is because I have lost some weight lately due to cycling and more skateboarding and exercise.

RE: Anyone here play video games?
I was kinda disappointed with the Xbox One presentation. I want a console that focuses on gaming, not a multimedia console. In addition the current X360 has nowhere near as good an offer in Europe when it comes to mulitimedia as it has in the US, and I suspect it will be the same with the new XBO. Anyways, I have an old laptop that works great for mulitimedia.
And I have absolutely no interest in a need to be always connected to Kinect (kinected?) Xbox. Just give me a good hand controller. I am old school dagnabbit!
There is also the problem that games are tied to your account and if you borrow a disc from a friend you have to pay (full price?) to play it on your account. I am sure Microsoft has made it so to discourage second hand buying and selling of games, but it’s just not gamer friendly. And then there is the need to at least be connected to the net at least once a day…
So, I’m definitely going to buy the PS4, which seem to be a much more gamer oriented console. I might buy the XBO if it has some must have exclusives, like Mass Effect. And I’m not even considering the Wii U.
On another topic: I agree with derivative666 and Qinhan. Play Bioshock Ininite!

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
During the weekend it was time to clean and tidy up the roof terrace and the area around the block I live in. Wearing my new 666 I volunteered for the jobs that required a lot of bending down and sitting on the knees. We were at it for five hours on Saturday and it was a great way to start breaking in the beast (which is what I’m calling them now). Of course at the end of the day I my skin was red from the hips down to my upper thighs. But no pain, no gain. They have already comformed a bit to my body.
Here is a pic from the session. I had to stop cuffing the beast because there was a lot of dirt and old leaves accumulating in the cuff.
When it came to buttoning the pants I gave up doing it with just my hands, so I jammed in a plastic spike-thingy with no sharp edges and turned it around a couple of times in each hole. That helped somewhat, but they are still not easy to button.
Hajduk: Sure, I’m always up for beer.
Veintiuno: I’m not sure I’m going to soak them. I feel I got a headstart in breaking them in and I’m afraid a soak will ruin that.
Wearoften: Nice!

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Just got mine delivered at work. Thanks for the quick service Iron Heart
Anyways, I had to try them on right away so I snuck into the handicap toilet at work for a quick try on. And oh boy, these jeans are tough. I mean, I thought that 25 oz can't be that much stiffer than 21 oz, but I misjudged on that one. I only managed button the top button to see if they fitted me in the waist and they did. They are gonna need a lot of wear before they get comfortable. But they will become comfortable!

RE: Books
Seul: I never really liked Hunger. Sure, in its time it was quite revolutionary (at least in Norway) with focus on the indivudal psyche and the themes of angst and alienation. This was opposed to the literature at that time which focused on socieltal problems, which was the dominant view at that time, as exemplified in Ibsens plays. And I admire Hamsun for that. But I just could not relate much to it. Granted, I read Hunger in high school and I should probably read it again. But I think that Pan is the most beautiful book ever written.
Snowy: The Wheel of time series is not that bad. But the in the last books that Jordan wrote alone it seems to me that he ran out of plot and still tried to write long books. There is not so much going on to further the plot and instead he elaborates in length about things that isn’t really relevant. But the series got better when Brian Sanderson began to write. So in my humble opinion you get 10 OK to great books and 3 boring ones. I have not finished the last book so the verdict is still out on that one.
Thank you Sugar Mountain. You seem to have good taste too.

RE: Music
Here in Oslo it’s the Night of the Teenage Girl Zombies. Justin Bieber is playing three concerts in three days and it’s insane. Some schools moved their end of term-exams because the headmasters realized that a lot of girls would not show up because of Bieber. I think it was news on CNN. Last time Bieber was in Norway, 47 girls got injured and had to get emergency medical aid.
Me, I’m thinking about starting an old-fashioned lynch mob, with torches and pitchforks.
Oh yeah, I listen to a lot of The Afghan Whigs and The Smiths.

RE: Books
Hasn’t anybody mentioned James Ellroy in here- The Demon Dog of American crime fiction?. He’s a great crime-noir writer, probably best known for LA confidential which was made into a great movie. I’ve read all of his books at least twice. I recommend checking out his LA-quartet (The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential and White Jazz) and his Underworld USA-series (American Tabloid, The Cold Six Thousand and Blood’s a Rover). All great crime novels. Check him out, you won’t be disappointed!
Anyways, I read a lot of books across most genres. Some of my favorite writers are Haruki Murakami, Umberto Eco, William Gibson, Hunter S. Thomson (before he became senile), Knut Hamsun, Abo Rasol and Michel Foucault.
A few posts back, Michael was talking about old school SF and I would just like to add Isaac Asimov to his list, especially The Foundation-series. Asimov made me read SF.
I’m a bit embarrassed but at the moment I’m reading the last book in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The series started quite well off, but it started going downwards around book six. I guess it was just stubbornness and curiosity as to how it would end that made me read all the 13 books before the one I’m currently reading.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Yeah, I've been reading this entire thread, and I'm awiting the 666 with equal parts of joy and fear, with a little bit of awe somewhere in there as well.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
I just ordered the 31" with 32" hemming. And then I went to this forum and saw the last replies. I'm the same height as Seul so I'm thinking about asking IH to hem an inch extra. But I went and measured my Nudies Grim Tim which has my favorite inseam length (should have done this before, I know). They measured 30" and I wear them with an inch of single cuff. Guess I have really short legs. So I'm sticking with a 32" inseam.
Nevertheless, thanks for all the advice everyone. You all are nice and helpful people. Can't wait for the jeans to arrive.
My girlfriend, a clinical psychologist, is now rolling her eyes and probably silently diagnosing me after I told her I just ordered a pair of 500$ jeans. But she keeps on saying "It's your money, honey" so we're all right.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Yeah, I forgot that they will need some length to settle. I was thinking about getting them hemmed at 31" inches, assuming that 30 - 30,5 would be perfect after a wash (the inseam shrinks about 0,5 -1" after a wash, right?). So I should at least go for a 32" inseam? I'm not a big fan of big cuffs.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Thanks for all the helpfull comments people (takk skal du ha hajduk ;)). My 21" BB was not snug at the beginning and now they are loose enough to skateboard comfortably in (provided the temperature is 5 celcius as it is here in Norway at the moment). So I'll think the 31" is the way to go.
Off course, now I face the dillemma of how much hemming. To cuff or not to cuff, that is the question. But I have to figure out that for myself.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Soooo… After my first pair of Iron Hearts, I'm ready for more and the 666 seems to be what I'm looking for. But with pants that cost 500$ I have to do due dilligence when it comes to size. So here we go:
My actual size is 32" when I measure my pants. The Beatle Busters I have now was size 32 when I bought them and the could be a little smaller in the waist. So I'm thinking size 31" when I look at the sizing-table for the 666.

RE: IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo PREVIOUSLY IH-555-01
Thanks hajduk and Seul. I've been reading the 666xhs-thread and the 666 is the fit I'm looking for. Now I have to go back to that thread and pester the good people about sizing.
