@m00ny said in Where does everyone live?:

Hi all, just signed up from Sussex and looking to purchase my first Iron Heart piece and hoping you can guide/help me decide!

Choosing between IHSH-235 in grey and IHSH-381 in olive. Does anyone have both and offer some input? I have looked through both forum threads and still struggling to pick between them. I want it to double up as a lightish jacket so would the heavier 13oz fabric be better or do I go with the 381 as it has pockets? I'm hoping they'd both fit me fairly well looking at the size charts, thanks for any input!

    Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, I have neither of those particular shirts. I really wanted the IHSH-235 in olive, but could only find it in grey in my size online. I was able to find the IHSH-381 in olive and placed an order and it should arrive on Monday. I sized down from my normal size as it looks like they run a bit large. I was able to look at them both at the local self-edge store (they did not have my size) - I think I prefer the heavier material on the IHSH-235. It seems like it will patina better, although I do like the pockets on the 381. But, of course, take all the above with a grain of salt since I currently own neither shirt.

You probably already know this, but there is a subsection on the forum for each iron heart model. These are a good place to look to see various user photos of an item, how it ages, how it looks worn with various other pieces, and long-winded user commentary. Here are the two for these particular shirts:

@CosmoSix5 said in Monster double pronged belt! Natural vegetable tanned leather.:

I took a quality belt I had shrunk out of to an Amish leather worker who took about 3.5" off and now it fits great again. Simple task with the right tools.

I thought about trying to do it myself on this belt, but didn't want to screw it up. I ended up just buying another, smaller, belt and am selling this one.

So it seems like this belt is slightly bigger.
Which hole fits you on the current belt?

It looks like the middle hole on your belt would be the smallest on this belt.

@CosmoSix5 Yes, it's 39" to the middle hole as measured like this.

The 39" figure is what I used to order the belt from Hollows. It is a beautiful belt, but unfortunately too large for me.

I misunderstood the measuring instructions and measured an existing belt of mine from end to the farthest hole to get 39 inches. If you're considering purchasing this item, please measure a current belt to get the best idea of sizing.

Bumping with a photo of how the belt will look once the patina develops.

Unfortunately, the size is too large for me.

  • Monster double pronged belt! Natural vegetable tanned leather.

This item is a Hollows Leather Rail Belt in Natural vegetable tanned leather. It has a brass double pronged buckle. The leather will patina to a deep, rich brown. See the website for details and patina photos.

The size is 39" as measured like this. The item is brand new.

Paid $185+ shipping, selling for $100 shipped to continental US.

  • RE: IHSH-411-YEL - 9oz Selvedge Indigo Check Flannel Western Shirt - Yellow

    @CosmoSix5 thanks for the info.
I was sort of aware those are the two differences - sizing differences and buttons versus snaps, but haven't really decided yet which I prefer. I like the snaps better, but I think the yoke on the western styles sometimes makes the pattern not look as nice.

I currently have a single XL workshirt and it fits perfectly. And fortunately, in SF where I live there is a SelfEdge. As soon as these new shirts arrive, I'm hoping to head there, try on both, and decide.

    Thanks!

@Engineer-Goby trying on in person is ideal if you have the option.

The most important factor when purchasing is to look at the measurements rather than the tag size. Once an article is in-house the guys at IHUK will post the measurements online. Take a shirt that fits and measure it the Iron Heart way as described here. Then check against the listed dimensions.

Thanks. I will have to record my measurements so I'm ready to go when the time comes.
Here's another Urquell for your help: 🍺

Any ideas when the Spring stuff usually comes around?

@Engineer-Goby welcome to the forum. Self Edge has a shop in San Francisco and carry Iron Heart. You could swing by and familiarize yourself with the work and western cuts, just to get a rough idea of the differences in fit

I've already been there more times than I'd care to mention. They've got a lot of nice stuff, but the Iron Heart flannels are all but sold out in my size (probably XL).
I tried on a denim shirt in XL just to get an idea, and it fit pretty well. It was a nice shirt, but Im more looking for a flannel right now. Hopefully when the Spring collection comes in I can try on both styles and buy something off the rack. I'm on their email list so will hopefully be able to get there as soon as the new stuff arrives.

    Nice to meet you.

I'm Eric. I live in San Francisco and own absolutely no Iron Heart gear.

I'm hoping to acquire my first piece when the Spring/Summer collection "drops" (I think that's how you guys say it around here, just trying to fit in 😅 ).

I'm using the waiting time to try and decide between the Western and Work Shirt styles.

This is probably going to be my first IH acquisition, if I can get one.
Probably western, but maybe work shirt. I like the look of the work shirts a bit better, I think (still a bit new to the brand), but prefer the snaps over the buttons.
