      That burgundy is beautiful

      Not trying to start a big argument, but how doe Wesco stack up to Red Wings? Curious if there are huge differences.

      I like Red Wing and have worn them for work for many years. Red Wing is Triple A, Wesco is the Show.
      There's simply no comparison. Fit,leather, build, the best boots I own. Seeing is believing.

      My reply(Darren)-
      Let me start off by saying I am a HUGE Red Wing Heritage boots fan! I thought they were the pinnacle of hand made in the USA boot available. After viewing blogs like this one and reading reviews online, I decided to purchase a pair of Wesco "Custom Boss" vintage engineer style boots. After viewing some of the photos u gentlemen have posted I now "needed not just wanted a pair"LOL! From my vantage point in the Wescos vs Red Wing debate, in my opinion the Wescos is a more substantial/well made product. Both companies do put out some amazing footwear and I will not hesitate to purchase another pair of Red Wing Heritages or West Coast Shoe Companies, both makers are that good…but my next custom ordered boot will be a pair of Wescos (not "WHITE's, not "Danners", not "Wolverines" or even "Vibergs")so that says something about who in my opinion makes the best hand made boots in the good ol US of A !!

      +1 on the "Burgundy Domain" leather.. It really is a beautifully treated hide!

      Just glad you are stoked on them. They are the Burgundy Domain, and they are beautiful. We were the first to request as well as have the domain made for us from the tannery, I have heard there are other boot makers out there that are looking to carry it ….:)

      What are the benefits or the "Domain" leather? (It's qualities and the proper care, I think I just read, maybe your suggestion, that this leather performs best with "leather WAX"? Thanks so much in advance!

      You gentlemen were correct on the color, I can't understand why a Wesco retailer would get the color wrong? Nevertheless the color and boots are incredible..

      Hi Darren,

      The leather on your boots is Burgundy Domain. I am the Sales Manager for Wesco, we don't offer a cordovan burgundy domain. It's a great leather and ages very well.

      Hope that clears it up:)!

      Cheers,

      CW

      Thanks for clearing it up my friend. For whatever reason the 4 or 5 pairs of Wesco boots they are selling are all in what they are calling " Codovan Domain" leather?! Burgandy/cordovan domain makes no difference @ all to me. I bought them because of Wesco's reputation and they are(in my humble opinion) some of the most badass engineers I've ever seen. I'll let y'all know how I feel about them today, just got notice they are on the truck to be dropped off today!

      @DarrenH:

      Here's just another view.. The retailer in the US where the boots were purchased from says it is cordovan domain leather that is custom made for their shop only? So I'm looking forward to what that shoe box says 👍🏻
      The debate rages on!! Lol

      Takeshi (Hukurokuju) will respond in English to inquiries - i think there is a link on the site (bottom of page) for  "Contact Us" - and he has brass buckles as well as nickel - at least he did when I got mine.  I told him I needed a full set for wesco boss and he asked me "brass or nickel, and flat or shiny finish". I sent him the money via paypal and he sent me the buckles in the mail.  Eazy peazy.

      P.S. check his blog for great boot porn.

      Will do…Thanks so much bro!

      Well if this color debate is over?! Lol 😉 Can someone please point me in the right direction where I can secure a set(two top @5/8" & two bottom @7/8")of custom Solid brass roller buckles? I heard of a master Cobbler located in Japan that has some amazing/well priced pieces. So any information would be great, this gentlemans website is in Japanese 😔 Or if there are others who make these types of buckles can u please share their contact information? Thanks in advance..

      Try this. His buckles are great.  http://hukurokuju.com/repair/buckle/#  There are other places to get decent buckles as well, but I don't know the details. Like Brass (Tokyo) or Hollywood Trading Company.

      Thanks for the information.. The gentleman in Japan with the custom brass buckles is whom I'd like to order them from.. Fantastic products he offers. My one question is how do you go about ordering and paying for the items being his whole webpage is in Japanese??! Lol anybody with experience in the ordering process please let me know how y'all did this! Thanks in advance..

      Thanks for the information bro!

      @Giles:

      That looks like burgundy domain….

      The dealer here in the states that sold me the boots said it was Cordavan Domain leather. If it's Burgandy Domain leather it makes ZERO difference to me, I purchased them cause in my eyes they are some beautiful boots that will stand up to the wear and tear from riding.

      It looks like brown domain to me not cordovan domain - am I wrong?

      Yes sir… It's not the brown domain I think the picture came out alittle dark. Let me see if I can get the true representation of the color. Do y'all sell the solid brass roller buckles for these boots? The instep buckle being 7/8" I'm finding it impossible to find anything stylish. So if you do carry them I'd like to purchase a set.. If you all don't carry them could u please point me in the right direction to secure a pair?! Thanks in advance

      @DarrenH If you don't mind me asking, how much was the upcharge for the cordovan domain leather?  I'm just spitballing some ideas for my next pair.

      The upcharge for the "Domain" leather is $40

      Good afternoon gentlemen! I finally purchased my first pair of Wesco Boots. I needed a new pair of dedicated motorcycle riding boots(these will get some hard usage) so I went with their "Boss" engineer style model, with a few custom mods. They are as follows-
      Cordovan(Was told by some fellas on here who know much more about Wesco Boots, the correct color is Burgandy Domain leather, if it's was called "hooker in with a red dress domain leather" I'd be fine with that.. My boot collection is getting quite colorful-plenty of black, a couple of Browns, indigo blue and now this purty color no matter what's it's name is,lol!)throughout
      Motor Patrol last
      Vibram 705 half soles &
      Double midsole dyed brown
      Extra long instep strap
      I am very much looking forward to experiencing what y'all have been talking about as far as craftsmanship and high line materials. If any other members would like to share a picture or two and a description of their Wesco Boss' that would be fantastic! Also would anyone know how and where to order custom brass roller buckles for these boots? Thanks in advance and when the boots arrive and some miles have been put on them I'll let y'all know what I think of them!
