  • RE: IH-634-XHSBB - 25oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Black/Black

    @Giles:

    Don't actually know.  But, I imagine so…..I guess we ought to look how well they are doing and then compare notes with Haraki....

    I'm pretty late to the game here but any word on whether there will be another run of these? Product page says limited run so I assumed not but G's comment gave me some hope. Jeanswerk has a pair in my size but they don't ship outside Switzerland/Lichtenstein. 😞

  • RE: Ultra Heavy Raw (UHR), AKA 21/23oz Denim

    @cander49:

    Super cool that these are coming back. I figured I'd get the most classic 555s next (indigo 21 oz), but I guess those will wait and I'll get UHR 555. With how long IH jeans last and other denims like 18 oz and XHSib catching my eye, I still haven't gotten around to getting that classic 21 oz in anything but black!

    Definitely worth waiting for the UHR IMO. The 21oz is classic for a reason but the UHR's character and texture is unmatched, and I've found it to outlast the 21oz for durability as well. My first pair of indigo IH was the 634-UHR and they're still going strong 5+ years later with excellent fading/contrast and minimal wear/fraying.

  • RE: My first album

    I believe the first CD I ever owned was a "clean" version of The Eminem Show, via my half brother (ca. 10 years old) :D. The first CD I ever bought was Demon Days by Gorillaz, via K Mart (ca. 12 years old). Other standout formative albums that come to mind:
    Heroes, Bowie
    Guero, Beck
    Elephant, White Stripes
    With Teeth, NIN
    The Sky's Gone Out, Bauhaus
    VU and Nico
    Pink Flag, Wire

  • RE: The Outlet & Project RE:LOVE Drops

    Great idea! Just submitted a couple of pairs of jeans for consideration, one is the very first pair of IH denim that I ever bought (IH-666S-BK). Very interested to see what comes out of this project!

    Appreciate the input friends, 11.5 sounds like the way to go. Will likely pull the trigger come tomorrow!

    I appreciate the reply and insight @Appfaff! I can generally take a snug 11.5 in Vans or a bit roomier 12. I've been a 12 in PF Flyer's USA made sneakers and a UK 10/US 11 in Shoes Like Pottery/Moonstar. My left foot is nearly a full size larger than my right so sometimes it's a matter of compromise but I generally size to the larger foot. What throws me off though is that I had to downsize so dramatically for my Iron Rangers, where as you and others seem to take your true size across the board for Vans/Wesco/Red Wing. Would it perhaps be best to just split the difference and shoot for 11.5? 11 may be out of the question if sizing down isn't recommended.

  • RE: WESCO-MRLOU-BLK - Wesco® - 10" Horsehide Pull-On "Mister Lou" Engineer Boot - Black

    The incoming end of summer sale has rekindled my interest in picking up a pair of these. Initially, width was a bit of a concern as I have quite narrow feet. Reading through this and other threads the consensus seems to be that the MP last runs quite narrow, so D width may actually be adequate.

    However, I'm still uncertain on how to size for length. I did have a pair of Red Wing IRs in size 11D which were probably about a half size too big although they still fit comfortably. My standard sneaker size (and Brannock measurement) is generally 12. The only comparable pair of boots I currently own is a pair of Nick's custom work boots, but their sizing philosophy seems to differ from Wesco's a bit. Nick's is very insistent on sizing up .5-1 in length to ensure adequate toe room as your foot tends to "stretch" out a bit after wearing high arch work boots for an extended period of time. This placed me in whopping 13A in their boots which are incredibly comfortable, however I find the extra toe room a bit cumbersome for casual wear. I should also note that I owned a pair of Chippewa engineers some years ago that were a 10.5E (sized down to compensate for additional width) that were too tight in the toe box to wear comfortably but otherwise fit quite well.

    All of this is to say, should I order true to size or treat them as Red Wings and size down? I would like to take advantage of the sale to pick a pair of these up if I can. Otherwise, ordering a custom pair may be the way to go.

    I've had my eye on these for a minute, looks like the perfect engineer boot. Are these built to the same specs as the Mr. Lou sold on Wesco's website? Also curious if it's it possible to get these in any widths narrower than D, Wesco only lists D and E as well.

  • RE: Random questions to which you seek an answer

    Makes sense, thanks for clarifying G and Neph. The "advent calendar" style daily December sales leading up to Christmas a few years back certainly was a fun time, woke up every morning excited to check what was on special for the day. Certainly added more of a sense of anticipation and drama to the seasonal sale model.  😉

    Don't know if this has been addressed elsewhere, but will there be any sort of Christmas/Holliday sales this year? Got my eye on a few things and would like to plan accordingly  😉

  • RE: IHSH-192 - Pink/Grey Ombré Ultra Heavy Flannel Ombré Check Western - The Piglet

    I know I'm a few years late but I'm bummed I missed out on this one. Probably the only UHF that I really like that I don't have (except for maybe the IHSH-207). In the unlikely event that anybody has a size L (or M depending on the sleeve length) that they're willing to part with, please let me know. 🙂 I know IH rarely does reruns of the same UHF fabric but is there any chance it could happen? Such an uncommon and attractive colorway, never thought I'd say that about a pink shirt.

  • RE: Hats and Beanies

    Bought a nice red/white wool ball cap on sale from Ideal Cap Co. a while back. Came with a nice looking vintage patch from a less than ideal automaker (hint: it's one of the Big Three, and definitely the worst one but I'll let you decide which one that is  :D). Replaced it with an IH patch and I must say it's a perfect match, almost looks like it could be a stock item (although the cap's construction isn't quite up to IH standard). Serves as a reminder that jeans, much like cars, may have been invented by Europeans but both were certainly perfected by the Japanese.  😉

  • RE: IHSN-01 - Low Top Sneakers in 21oz Selvedge Indigo, 21oz Superblack, 21oz White

    Love Moonstar sneakers. I have a pair of Shoes Like Pottery slip ons, any chance that we may ever see an IH slip on sneaker? Pretty much the only pair of quality canvas slip ons I've found and it seems like they're discontinued now, would be nice to have an even more heavy duty option. Superblack with all black rubber would be epic. Or perhaps even the classic black and white checkerboard a la MPW.  😎

    First IH purchase in a year, can't believe it's been that long since the mustard UHF came out. Looking forward to this one.

  • RE: Free repairs for life, for you, by us.

    I understand that this service is only offered on denim products, is there any chance that it might ever be offered on duck? I have a pair of 666D with some fraying in the seat and some loose stitches at the crotch seam (~4 years of wear). The fraying at the seat (right side specifically, immediately left of the pocket) is the only consistent problem area I've had in my IH jeans. 666S-BK have the exact same wear, but no blowouts or substantial fraying anywhere else. Has anybody else had blowouts in the seat like this? I don't recall it being an issue with any other brand of jeans - granted they all fell apart elsewhere much more quickly. I suppose that this could be because IH spaces the rear pockets out more towards the outseam thus removing some of the buffer that the pockets might provide. Or maybe I just have a particularly boney butt  😃

    @teddyjay:

    Copped!  My first UHF!  Need to see what all the hype is about.  Me thinks I won’t be disappointed.

    I suspect that it won't be your last. UHFs need to be seen/worn to be fully appreciated. They will ruin all other flannels for you, they are truly without equal. Great pattern on this one too, tempted but I'm holding out for the black/yellow windowpane.
